I have Confirmation in less then a month, and my mom isn't letting me wear nice pants and a shirt, she's making me wear a freaken dress(I like playing dress up with them, not really wearing them). Could you guys help me decide what type or color or whatever would look the best? I'm attaching a picture of a dress that I put on last night(but I doubt I'd be allowed to wear a dress with jeans and converse)
I asked her about this one but she said that she wants to find me a nicer one. ![]() I'm pretty pale, I have strawberry blonde hair, 5'8" and I don't really have a figure at all. I'm thirteen and I need to find an age-appropriate dress that looks okay on me, doesn't cost over $50, and will look okay with flats. Can you guys help? hear us sing! ![]() you will draw from the silence the things you ask strength, hope, and the courage to grow. ♥ |

Could you just wear the dress above with tights underneath and nice shoes?

I asked her about that dress, she won't let me. She wants me to get a new one since for everything formal I wear that dress.
I hate dresses.

Hey there! I'm sorry she wants you to wear a dress, but there are several options out there that you may like. Think this way: It's only a special event that will only last for a few hours, not for a million years
. So it'll pass by fairly quickly. Anyway, what kind of dress both you and your mom would you like? Modcloth.com has a lot of great dresses.I hope this helps. Good luck ![]() http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Dresses P.S. Maybe you can wear a nice top with a skirt?? There are some here if you consider that option. http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Bottoms Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live |

If that dress doesn't work, I've found dresses at Old Navy that work for somewhat nice occasions, they would be mostly under $50 and age appropriate. Otherwise, check the usual places. Target is good, sometimes Deb has great dresses, if you have one nearby. Sales racks at department stores.
If wearing a dress is a huge issue, you should sit down and talk to your mom about it. Maybe she has some great ideas, too! You never know. Moms can be smarter than we give them credit for.

I really like the colors on you that are on that dress, so I would look for a green one
. Try forever 21, they have lots of styles and they are cheap.

You could try doing something like this:
![]() You expressed that you aren't much of a girly-girl, but that doesn't mean you can't rock the LBD look. Try consignment stores. They usually have a much better selection than thrift shops, and there's a lot of name brands. Plus they're cheap. :] Good luck!
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |

As it's a confirmation, you're going to want to wear something modest. It should reach your knees, not be cut low enough to show cleavage if you bend forward, and have straps unless you wear a shawl over it. A lot of times, girls will wear white dresses to show the purity they are promising to keep. Forever 21 and Modcloth are some of my favorite places to find dresses. The point of a confirmation dress isn't to be crazy or funky, though it may be your style. Your mom would probably most like a simple dress. While it may seem like a pain to wear a dress, confirmations are short events and you don't ever have to wear the dress again.
"Love me for me, accept the fact I'm true, live like I want, fufill my dreams, Dream of me, run out free, capture your words and never let them go." I'll see you on the other side. |
