How to wear this dress as fancy dress? -

I got this dress and wore it a few times but I didn't love it.
 http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/d...rtDisplayPrice I am now going to a fancy dress party and thought it would be easier and cheaper to use something I already own. With this dress I was thinking sailor girl fancy dress as it is navy blue and white but other than white knee high socks and a sailor hat like this,  I don't know what to do to make it stand out as a sailor costume. I don't mind spending a bit of money and I am also pretty good at sewing if it is required. I am not to fussed about the dress so I don't mind cutting and sewing it. |

You could perhaps use some accessories like an anchor necklace or something similar? Also, a neck tie and some white gloves?
I had a look at some sailor costumes and most of them just have a dress, hat and knee high socks so I don't think it needs much else to make it stand out.  |

I have found this site which has knee high socks with anchors on them and hair bows with anchors on them
http://dunbarcostumes.co.uk/acatalog...Stockings.html and then I have fount this set of hat and scarf http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adult-Sailor...2426716&sr=8-1 Aaazon has anchor jewellery and belts which is all pretty cheap. I think with all of that most people will get that it is a sailor costume. |
