bikini's, media and thin women? - May 8th 2011, 03:34 AM

So I've recently become more girly, well maybe not more girly but more in touch with my femine side since i've been with my current boyfriend of 3 months, i've been feeling alot more confident and sexy, howeverm i do weigh [Edited by Fierce.], it's not ALL fat as i am about [Edited by Fierce] body fat last i was able to check (probablly about 2-3 months ago) i've been trying to be a little more active to improve my cardio. but around my belly button im about [Edited by Fierce] inches, and my hips are also around [Edited by Fierce] and my chest is [Edited by Fierce]D (double d depending on the brand) im not sure if thats pear shaped or not and im sure it's not propper measurement but i do have a pretty good muffin top on me, i'd LOVE to wear bikini's if i had the body for it and wasn't so self conscience, i'd love to be able to walk around in shorts and a bikini top but i just feel like i'd be insulting people if i did as i am not thin or have a nice curvy body
i know this is only because of mass media and everything that girls should be thin but i can't help but feel self conscience or even guilty about it
and even so if i had a better figure i've also got acni scarring on my upper body i just can't seem to get rid of...do people really even notice these things or do i only notice this about myself because i focus too much on it?

Hey! Although someone edited out your measurements, I'm sure you're perfectly fine. Seriously. Don't look at the media, putting stick skinny girls strutting around in bikinis. AT the most you are probably curvy, which is NOTHING wrong. In fact, it's much better than being so skinny you look like your legs are going to break off. The problem is that some people don't buy bikinis their size, and that's when the problems start. Just buy a bikini that you feel comfortable and confident in, and you'll be perfectly okay! I live in Europe where bikinis are almost a standard thing, and I see women with all sorts of body shapes in bikinis. And they all look great because they choose the right type of bikini (halter, bandeau, triangle, etc.) and the right size for them! <3

You know what? Most people would consider me that figure that "should" be in a bikini because I'm tall with long legs and quite small, but I'm so incredibly uncomfortable with so little clothes on. I've only ever worn one pieces and tankinis and I feel like it's a lot more comfortable. I never really have to worry about my swimsuit straight up coming off or anything like that. My advice to you is wear what you want and feel comfortable with. If you're not comfortable in a bikini top, then why wear one? If you want to wear one, though, you should try it. You can wear whatever you want. The thing is, if you don't wear much clothing, and even if you do, people are going to see your body. People are going to judge you no matter what size you are.

I'll see you on the other side.

I agree with Keeley, that people will judge you no matter what size you are.
I mean, even stick thin people get judged for being too thin.
I've got myself a tankini, because I have scars on my stomach, but I'm going to wear it this summer, even though I hate wearing anything that shows my legs because I consider them fat.
If you feel comfortable in something, then wear it and forget about anyone else. You wouldn't be insulting anybody, and if anyone did feel insulted then they have a problem, not you.

Wanna know a secret? I've never met anyone that I thought looked bad in a bikini. I admire their confidence to wear those little things. Who the hell cares what the media says is the "right" body type for a bikini?! Wanna wear one? Wear one!!! Rock it!!!

Cheers!
