Your problem is the eggs I'm guessing. Most lice treatments only kill the adults, but then eggs hatch and more lice are born. Ask a pharmacist to recommend you one that kills both - they smell bad a lot of the time, but they'll do the job.

I grew up with 3 younger siblings, headlice were forever being bought home from their school friends ...

Just to check, are you sure they're lice? Because little white specks may look like it, but could be dandruff ... I thought I had lice for about a month once and turned out it was just dandruff and changing my shampoo/conditioner helped clear it up

You can't move mountains by whispering at them.

Get a comb with very narrow teeth and then get your hair wet and comb through to get them out and keep combing until no more are coming out. If any eggs are left, they will hatch and the lice will come back. I've also heard that putting lots of jell in your hair when you go to bed will suffocate them so they will die. Make sure to wash your sheets often too as if any are on there they can get back on your head while you sleep.
