Christmas Fancy Dress ideas... - November 17th 2011, 07:52 PM

My uni Christmas night out is fancy dress with a Christmas theme and I am struggling with ideas.

I want something cheap/easy to make but looks good and is a bit more original than elf, snowman, santa. I don't want anything too over the top either.

My mind is blank and the internet is not inspiring me at all so any ideas are welcome.

Well how about a winter fairy and you can wear shoes with bells on them? Its sorta christmasy lol and you can probably find a cheap dress at a clearance store or online on amazon or ebay. They have everything

Something similar to what leavemealone said - a generic winter theme could work. Blues and whites so you can look snowy. White lace would be a really nice touch, actually, if you found a blue dress you liked.

Also, maybe consider a gift theme? Don't worry, I don't mean wearing a big box or anything. But you could find a patterned dress with Christmas-y colors (red, green, white) and tie it in the back with a big bow. You could also add lace, sparkles etc.

For the snowman that would actually work. ITs cute, cheap and it will work.

You could go with the ugly christmas sweater theme! As long as you get one so ugly that everyone knows you are doing it for that theme, it could be very cute! You could wear it with leggings, jeans, boots, ect. whatever you want. I know there's always a Senior Ugly Christmas Sweater day at my school.

You could try a reindeer outfit. Buy some cheap Christmas antlers at a party store or maybe a accessory store if they have them for the winter season. A long brown shirt or sweater, maybe a red clown nose if you want to be Rudolf Black boots and leggings would look so cute!

Mhhm or you could look up old fashioned toys and see what you could whip together there. Let's see, there's the sockmonkey, so if you get a brown/white sweater, red or white leggings, some cute slippers or boots, have one of those thick ribbons for bows on presents (you can buy it cheap at any craft store) , and either monkey ears or one of those sock monkey winter hats, that could work. Or you could wear a regular dress, have rosy cheeks & the same bow belt idea to be a doll-gift. Or wear all brown and take paper/card board & cut out eyes, mouths, ect. pieces to tape/ect to your shirt so you can be Mrs. Potato Head!.

If you want more ideas, look at any christmas ornaments you have for inspiration. Maybe you could copy one of them for your outfit idea.

Sometimes all you need to do is sprinkle a little glitter on someone's raincloud to blend them a rainbow.

I've been looking at fancy dress too, depending on when you need it for you could try ebay, I got my halloween outfit from there and it wasn't too expensive.

I did a quick search on ebay and this is pretty cute - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Womens-Chr...#ht_3076wt_952

This might be a bit on the slutty side but it's another idea - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Naughty-Nu...item92b05a53ab

There's always the options of pantomime outfits, Peter Pan etc. - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PETER-PAN-...d#ht_500wt_969

This is on the expensive side too I think but I'm sure you could find it cheaper on ebay from another seller - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saucy-Pud-...#ht_687wt_1139

Hope this helps!

One of my friends actually has the saucy christmas pud outfit

I am probably going to go with the snowman or the reindeer because I can do it with leggings, boots, t shirt and accessories.
