What Do You Think Of Thrift shops? -
January 28th 2012, 08:21 PM
The title says it all.
Personally, I like the whole idea. Some of my favorite clothing pieces come from Thrift Shops, like my two favorite sweaters (^^' Both are black) I mean, I'm not going to wear everything in my closet so I might as well buy things slightly used. In a world filled with diversity, I am just another oddity.

I shop almost exclusively at thrift stores and have done so for my entire life (including babyhood and childhood). At thrift stores you can get brand name items for at least 50% less. Almost all thrift store items are in good condition, and generally only require a good wash to make them perfectly wearable.
Items I have gotten from thrift stores: Several pairs of Converse: $5-$20 each A formal dress: $15 Other dresses: $10-$25 each Countless brand name jeans: $10-$25 a pair Flannel shirts from American Apparel: $15 each (in stores for over $40) Formal Shoes Jewelry (cleaned with rubbing alcohol) |

I noticed that thrift stores are getting lots of hate from some reason. If you go to a family owned one, not goodwill or salvation army, like a corner store one, you could probably find some really cool stuff.

^^'We don't have a goodwill, but I think the Thrift Shop is working with the soup kitchen and the church here.... -Guessing because their in the same building, and the soup kitchen is where we have tea and stuff after church... (not that I go often.)
@Craz33me, I know, I find it a waste but I never do anything about it because I think I'll wear it sometime soon, but I never do... In a world filled with diversity, I am just another oddity.

Depending on the thrift store, I love them. Let's face it, I'm from Chicago so there is some pretty shady thrift stores (not to mention, unclean ones too!). I like Goodwill Thrift Store's

I usually love thrift shops :3 Especially when I'm traveling, it's fun to look through them and see what there is to find. I have some really cool stuff that I picked up from one in Jackson Hole Wyoming

I love them! You can always find unique things and you can get lots of great stuff for a low price
I've never been one to pay for labels anyway. I could care less about where my clothes come from, just as long as I like them

Love them! My goal is to shop more used stuff. I really don't care if this if I'm the first owner of something, as long as it's cute, and if you have something you don't wear anymore, why not give it to somebody who may love it?

^^ That's so true. I'm always happy that things get an extra life instead of ending up in a landfill somewhere just wasting away.

I don't generally shop from thrift stores. I just bought a pair of converse once. But yeah, I think they're great and have cute clothes with a reasonable price.

A thrift store sells items that people have donated. Since all of the items have been used, they are sold for a lower price.
I've personally never shopped in thrift stores since the ones near me never have anything in my size or anything that I'm interested in. |
