Oh dear, no!! I would be terrible with a credit card; I'm not getting one until I know I can be responsible enough to afford it. It would be really handy for buying stuff online though..

I don't have one, but my boyfriend does. He's already maxed it out and hasn't even started to pay it off. I think it's just too tempting to spend all the money and forget that you actually have to pay it off.

Yes I've had it since I turned 18, I like it because it helps you built a credit and gives you rewards if you pay on time.

I have a credit card, I haven't used it though. I was recommended to get it by my bank as it makes online payments more secure and you have a type of insurance on it. Which, if anything, I will only be using for textbooks.
I have been tempted when I've had no money (like now (£13 till friday which has to suffice food and petrol)) but I'd rather just stick it out. |

I do and I just finished paying it off, thank god! I sort of regret getting one but at the same time I don't because it can be very useful at times (ex. emergencies, paying for things online, hotel rooms, etc) but at the same time it is VERY tempting and usually hard to resist spending it, especially when you're in the "moment". Thus being said, I have mixed reviews on it- to sum it up, I think it is bittersweet.

I've had a credit card for about 4 years now, actually. I really only use it for gas and textbooks, along with other random expensive stuff. But I like paying with cash. Luckily, the credit card it tied to my parents bank account, so it's not even my money lol.
I do try to pay everything with cash though- anything above a twenty dollar bill means some serious thinking.  |

I've used the credit card now, dire need for glasses before payday but I paid it off as soon as i got paid (three days later), its my emergency money.

I have a credit card since i was 18.
Now I have 3 of them! But I rarely max one out unless I have too... Like paying for university tuition. Credit Cards are great for saving money. It just depends on your self control. I save money because my cc's give me: An Organized report of my expense Rewards (1 percent cash back minus debt incurred) And I will never loose change when i buy small stuff. I am very frugile. |

I only have a debit card and I'm content with that for now. I'm repsonsible with that and manage my money well though, so I might consider getting a credit card in the near future just to build some credit up.

I was put on a stupid self service card. Which I'm annoyed about. I prefer debit.
But I took 300 pounds out, and then 0 for the next two or so months, and they said because of it, I have to wait a few more months until money goes in, Until I can get a debit card again  Gutted.

I know im not older but my mom uses a debit card for everyday life and the credit card only for emergencies. as far as ive seen, i wont be considering a credit card any time soon. i trust myself with it, though because I usually don't spend too much money and I'm a "cheapskate" as my mom likes jokingly say.

no i don't have a credit card but i do have a debit card. it's great for online shopping and i do internet banking which makes it easier to manage my money. i check it every morning because i'm paranoid of getting hacked, i've heard so many horror stories.

I have a debit card, and when I build up my savings a little bit(because I go through paychecks like water) I will get a credit card SOLELY to build credit. I spend too much money on clothes and things I don't need already - I recognize that it would be very easy for me to go "Oh, I'm getting payed in three days, it's okay". And while that's okay to do once in a while, I KNOW I would push it over the limit.
I'm going to use my credit card for gas, and that's it, and I'm going to pay it off right away. I'm moving to Boston, and good credit is helpful for signing lease contracts - and while my parents could quite easily sign as a guarantor on any contract, I want to build good credit and good spending habits now. I'm trying(key word : trying) to maintain a daily spending diary so I can budget appropriately and put a certain % into savings monthly, while paying for car insurance. I'm not older, but I always felt like I'd rather just save up for something and then buy it as opposed to putting it on a charge. Then, you have to pay interest and such, and honestly, I'm tired of credit card companies calling my house all the time =_= So pesky.
