Side money - November 7th 2019, 08:17 PM

I'm trying to make some more money so I can get a service dog. I am currently a full time student and I don't have a car. Anything that I can do to work from home? I don't want to start a GoFundMe or anything.

Hi JessaMay!

I usually see a lot of jobs advertised online such as Facebook and websites dedicated to advertising jobs. I know this may sound silly but there could be jobs that you can do from home or even post something online, that way people may be able to contact you in regards to a position.

I hope I helped!

There are some things you can do, one of them being eBay. If you have any spare things lying around you don't use anymore or don't want, it's a great place to sell stuff and get some extra cash.

Additionally, there's also Prolific. I'm not sure how old you are or their minimum age requirement but personally I find it's one of the best places to earn spare cash. Prolific is a site in which university students (and sometimes lecturers) post studies in which they need participants for. You sign up as a worker, fill out the About You stuff (it's basically their version of a pre-screening page), and then wait for studies to appear on the page. There's no concerns as to whether or not you could get booted for being ineligible, only studies appear which comply with the things you've added to your About You section.

Whenever you're working at your computer, just have a spare tab open and if a study appears, the tab will have (1), (2) etc depending on how many studies there are at a time. You can only take one study at a time, but the site is great because they enforce a minimum of £5 per hour wage. Some studies I've taken have taken about 2-3 minutes and I earn 50p. It doesn't sound like much, but compared to some places that pay 20p for 15-20 minutes, that's an incredible pay.

One thing I will say is, the site is meant for academic research, so if you do decide to join and get studies, just be honest and watch out for attention checks! Remember, you'll be contributing to real-life research and honesty is important.

You should see if there are any writing assignments being done by local magazines or newspapers. I don't know if there is a minimum age requirement; or if you will need to get parental consent before doing so. This is one option to consider, and an easy way to earn some money. Be careful for the scams though! If it's something you're interested in, then I suggest reaching out to your teachers, and maybe they have some ideas of their own.

Best of luck.
