Will my hairdresser do it? - November 11th 2012, 02:42 PM

So I want a new style. I really want a side-fringe and long layers. But I don't know the difference between side swept or a side fringe, or if they are the same thing? Also, my hair doesn't have a style- it's just naturally middle parted and I looked up on-line and some people say that you have to have a side parting. Will my hairdresser do that, or will I have to "train" my hair to part to the side?

Yeah, I don't know much about hair

All you have to do to get a side part is to just part your hair on the side after a shower. Then your hair will dry in that part, and that's what will get it to stay. Nobody has a "natural part" honestly, it just depends on how it dries after you wash it.

As for bangs, side swept bangs tend to be longer, like this:

And a side fringe is like this:

So side swept bangs are usually longer bangs that you just kind of sweep to the side of your face so they aren't covering your eyes. Side fringe is shower, usually stop above the eyes.
When you go to the stylist, if you want you can just tell her you want some side bangs and they will cut your hair based on your face shape so that it will suit you.

And here you are living, despite it all.

Also, bring a picture in of something similar to what you want. It makes it easier for your hairdresser, rather than just saying something and them trying to recreate it from that.

Sorry I couldn't be there, I was tied to a rocking chair.
