Straightening. - October 19th 2009, 08:01 AM

I am always straightening my hair. My best friend gave me a really good straightener, but after 30 minutes or so my bangs start to curl and get wavy and I'm sick of it. I don't want to get a perm, because of the cost and the smell.

I don't want to sit here and spend so much money on products to get my hair to straighten and having to keep buying it over and over again. I want to go out and have it just stay straighten.

Any ideas?

Oh, my hair is short in the back, my bangs are angled, and in the middle....about my ears, it goes down to my jaw.

When you fall, don't always expect someone to pick you up. Do it yourself, you're stronger then you think. Brush yourself off and keep your head high.

How curly and unruly would you say your hair is? Maybe you're not using a good enough straightener, and by that i mean one that goes up to around 210 degrees celsius, has ceramic plates, ionic technlogogy even..and whatnot. These are all things you should look for in a straightener. The cheap ones just don't cut it and will not leave your straight hair do lasting, i'm afraid.

Do you use hairspray afterwards? You'll need to use some so as to keep the style in place. So if you can't afford a better quality straightener, invest in some good quality strong-hold hairspray.

Also beforehand make sure you're protecting your hair with a serum or spray.

It depends on if I blowdry my hair and if I got out of bed, but normally pretty bad. I'm not fully sure how high mine goes, I know it starts at 310 degress F.

Sometimes, it depends.

It could be the straightener. Cheap straighteners will not hold your hair well at all. I have a Sedu straightener and I absolutely LOVE it. I've been using it for over a year with no issues. As far as hair product goes, I've used some stuff by John Freida, I believe, that's like some sort of heat defense spray. Most heat defense sprays that are good quality will help hold your hair.

I'll see you on the other side.

heat defense spray.. and lots of hairspray afterwards. take more time when you're straightening your hair and it should hold better.. plus make sure it's completely dry when you start straightening. unless that is you have one of those horrible wet to straight straighteners. also, when you're straightening your hair as you straighten it follow through with a fine toothed comb, not a brush.

..and our dreams will break the boundaries of our fears..
