colored highlights - July 8th 2010, 07:17 PM

I really want to get highlights, but I don't know what color. My hair is light brown, almost dirty blond. Any suggestions? I was thinking of blue, but I'm worried it may be too dark....
My dad won't let me, but my mom will. I am 18 and paying for it with my own money, after all, it's my hair and I think i am entitled to do what I want with it! So I'm rebelling and doing it anyway.

I gots...

My sister in law has dark brown hair with natural blond highlights that come from the sun and she just recently did colored high lights and she got a vibrant red. It looked really hot. I would say go for red or a very plumb purple (she had done that before and it looked good too)

You could also try to do more than one color, like red and platinum blonde. I think that would go really well.
Just remember if you go with colors such as blues, some reds, pinks and things like that it will take more up keep and it won't stay looking as good as long as youd like.

I personally believe red and platinum would look really good on you because of your hair color.

Red or platinum would be great. Also, some hot pink would be a really fun twist!

You can have whatever colour you fancy! I've had every colour in the rainbow on my hair, and each one looked as good as the other

My only suggestion though, is that if you have blonde high lights first, when you put the coloured dye on after, it'll be more vibrant. Also, if you have red, it fades a lot faster so unless you wash your hair less, you might have to dye it more often. But it usually fades to a niceish pink so it's not too bad.

Blue fades to a green, which can be a bit nasty depending on your colour tastes! Purple fades to pink as well, which isn't so bad.

I think any colour would look good for your hair colour, it just depends what colours you like.
