Static/dry hair D: - September 15th 2010, 08:15 PM

My hair gets awfully dry and staticy (is that a word?) during the winter >___< Is there any way to help prevent this?

Umm. Lots of moisturizing shampoos and conditioners? That's the only thing I can think of. My hair gets very dry and straw-like because of the bleach I have on there. But I just use Tresemme shampoos and conditioners, the moisture ones, they seem to do the trick

You could get the leave in conditioners?

Also, I think Pantene do special shampoo for the winter months, I've never used it but it could be worth a try

I went to get my hair cut the one time, and the lady cutting my hair said that leave in conditioner(spray on), helps with the staticyness(lol). it works. really good. it never gets staticy now. you can also use this stuff that you spray on your hair. i don't remember the name. static reducer? or something. dunno. my friend has it and it works well. conditioning also helps with dry hair.

Hair serum used to save me a few times back in the day Also try and wash your hair, or even just rinse it at the end of your shower, with cold water. And give it a blast of cold air with the hairdryer at the end of your drying session. They help calm down flyaways and suchlike.

Definitely make sure you use a shampoo for dry hair. If you have colored hair (which you do ), then you should also try to use a color-protecting shampoo because dry and colored hair has a bit of a different texture and make up than dry, uncolored hair. Some companies make special static reducing shampoos and conditioners, as aforementioned. Most companies that are a bit higher-end will make sprays and serums that help reduce static, so if you have a specific brand of hair products you like, take a look at their sprays and serums and you'll most likely find something.
