Greasy hair - March 7th 2012, 09:10 PM

For the past while I've been noticing that my hair (especially by bangs) gets greasy-looking really easily. Anyone got tips to avoid this?

I have this problem too. Try not showering so often--I usually wash my hair once a day but shower twice a day. The second time I just get it wet and let it be a little bit unclean while I'm just lazing about at home. That tends to help my body with not overcompensating with oil and therefore making it greasier. Shaking a little bit of baby powder can absorb some grease, as can using dry shampoo. If you wear your bangs in a side-swept style or have them blunt, there's a greater chance of the strands absorbing gross stuff from your skin and becoming greasy faster. Try pinning them back or finding a new hairstyle where they don't touch your face so much. Hope this helped.

Shower in the mornings if you don't already. Your pillows have all sorts of ick on them, so if you shower at night, you're just getting your head dirty when you sleep

Get a clarifying shampoo, those are made to really deep clean your hair. Then only use conditioner on the ends of your hair, don't put any on your scalp. Changing your pillowcases often can help as well because oil can build up on there and then you end up sleeping on it. Ew haha.
They also make dry shampoos that you can use if your hair starts getting oily- they are made to soak up any oil in your hair.

Only use conditioners on the end? I shall have to try that.

Yeah you can use it on the length of your hair, but just don't put it directly on your head. Sometimes its too much moisture for some people and it can make their hair get greasy faster.
I learned that from my friend whose a hair dresser
