Angel Wings - January 18th 2009, 09:33 AM

I know it's a little farfetched and I do have all the time in the world to think it over but what'd you think about angel wings as a tattoo?
They can be easily hidden so that isn't a problem...
Just something along them lines:

I think they're awesome but they'd interfere with other tattoos I want to get so I don't think I'd get them myself.

Well do you know how painful the outline is going to be??? because of the fact that the tatt is sooo huge... but yeah it's a good idea... althouh wouldn't you want something a little less... common???

I love angel wings, as long as they're done tastefully.
I do like those ones, but this is your decision, you have to like them.

Maybe get someone to draw them on and see what they look like on you.

Like you said. Take time and think hard cause it's a big tattoo and will probably take time to be done.

Re: Angel Wings - January 18th 2009, 09:42 AM

I know it's going to be painful but I want them for a good reason ( that I won't go into) so I don't care how painful it's going to be.

They'll also take several sessions to complete. My shoulder piece isn't nearly that big and took two hours and my artist still has to go over it once more. If you really want them for a meaningful reason, and have thought deeply about it, go for it.

Why does it take several sessions? I can see why it would take several hours to but why would you need to go over it?

Re: Angel Wings - January 18th 2009, 11:39 AM

The artist has other appointments
Tattoos like that can cause trauma (muscle twitching etc.)
I suggest you do a lot of research. My tattoo just has a lot of coloring in it, yours is more of an outline.
Still, because of the size and location on the back it could take a few sessions. It's also crazy expensive.

I do have quite a bit stored up so I can pay for it. I will have a look round about the trauma, the parlour nearby has had quite a good reputation though.

Do whatever you like, just make sure it's what you really want.

Go and just talk to a tattoo artist. Don't make the appointment yet, just ask what the problems would be, what they think and so forth. And make sure it's a reputable person.

Then decide from there. =) I think angel wings are really cool.

Also, during the healing time, the ink may be pulled out and especially due to the placing it may get irritated by clothes etc.
This may cause it to become patchy.
It's no big deal though, it happens to most tattoos, including mine, and the artist just goes over where needed.

How can the ink be 'pulled out'?

After the first day, the tattoo will scab, and if the scab gets pulled off or knocked off, the ink goes with it. You're supposed to let it heal and fall off naturally

Haha, no. Just be careful and weary of your back. Make sure you have cream rubbed on it so it doesn't get itchy or dry.

Your artist will have the best advice.

I've looked around and I can't see anything wrong with getting the wings so I guess roll on my 18th!
