Question Mum is taking me to a live outdoor concert... - August 20th 2012, 04:59 PM

Today, my mum texted me from work saying there was a raffle for Tennants Vital tickets (an outdoor concert like a festival but no camping). She asked me if I was interested and I said "I suppose". There aren't any acts there that I actually listen to so I wasn't particularly bothered.
She won two tickets for this Wednesday.
Wednesday, my boyfriend and I had planned to have a nice night in because we'll have been going out 5 months on Thursday (we are both busy that day and we always hang out on Wednesday).

It's not really about my boyfriend, although I was looking forward to having our movie night. I'm just not interested in going, and I don't wanna seem mean because I do care for her, but it's just not the sorta thing you go to with your mum. Plus I am not interested in any of the bands.

I don't really think there's a way out of it, but got any advice? OH! And I'm 19 btw (which is why this is a problem).

p.s. Please don't start thinking I'm a bad daughter. I never answer back (even though I'm getting moaned at a lot these days), get good grades and try to help around the house.

Maybe just be honest and say that it's not really your thing and maybe suggest a few other people she could maybe go with..or tell her you kinda had plans.

Just because you dont want to go doesnt make you a bad daughter, everyone likes different things and you are just not into this, so you shouldnt feel like you have to go.

Thanks for your reply!

I kinda worked into a conversation saying I wasn't actually that interested in going and that my boyfriend and I had planned on a nice night for our 5 month anniversary, but she said "Well, it's a free concert may as well go". Don't think I'll get out of this...it isn't exactly a short concert either. Oh well.

I mentioned the daughter thing because I've asked for advice on a different website regarding something similar, and they tore me apart saying I was selfish and should be grateful.

Thanks for your advice
