weird thing with Squash? -

Triggering, just in case? also not sure where to put this. :/
So whenever I eat squash or a squash type food, I sometimes have the inability to swallow it, causing it to come back up before it's down all the way... (if that makes sense?) and sometimes it takes a couple times to get it down. I've always hated squash and zucchini but with other food I can't stand (or any food for that matter), this doesn't happen. Is there a reason?

Something I learnt and one of the few things I retained from psychology is food aversion. It's when we can't tolerate certain foods due to whatever 'trauma' that involved the food. For instance, I got terribly sick on lobster back in 2007 and couldn't stand for many years and can still barely stand it.
I just tried looking it up on Google and the majority of results were related to pregnancy. There was an article that compared/contrasted food aversion vs anorexia, but I don't know if that would be too triggering.
I suggest asking a licensed medical professional for more details. But there is definitely nothing wrong with you!
It's just a natural phenomenon.

You're looking at the world's pickiest eater right here!!
Is it possible that it's a texture thing? I'm on the autism spectrum and am sensitive to the textures of certain kinds of food, and when I have something with a strange texture (at least strange by my standards), I have a hard time getting it down. It sounds like you might be experiencing disgust - there is just something about this food that doesn't sit well with you, making it difficult for you to swallow it. It's natural for our bodies to want to not want to ingest something that we find gross or unpleasant, which could explain why this is happening.
Essentially, I think there's a difference between food that we don't really care for but can tolerate, and food that we are disgusted by. It sounds like squash falls into the latter category for you.

I have an issue with mashed potato. For a few mouthfuls I'm ok and then any more than that, I spend ages trying to swallow it because the texture is so...weird. If I keep trying to swallow it, it feels like it's about to all come back up so at that point I know it's a good time to stop.

I'm like that with corn and rice. I can't stand it, after a few chews, it feels nasty in my mouth and I need to spit it out. If I do end up swallowing it, my throat constricts when it's halfway down and I begin to choke.
Is it proven it's a part of Asperger's? I am on the spectrum as well.
