Birthday present ideas - March 29th 2011, 11:03 PM

For my girlfriend. She's 20. We've not been seeing each other that long so I don't really know what to get her, but at the same time I don't want it to be completely generic.

Also, I'm pretty poor.

I know she likes
- books
- history
- old castles
- the l word
- house
- musicals

I don't know whether I should have her birthday present as her coming here and taking her to look around a statly home? She's coming to visit next week.

Or try and get tickets for a show in our city? (though not sure much is on atm)

Or bottle of wine + something else?

I'm going to see her on friday though and I'd really like to give her something to UNWRAP. if that makes sense.

So lost!

You could buy her a history book? I know places like The Works have pretty cheap books going so it wouldn't be too expensive. You could even buy her a history book about castles so that includes three things that she likes

As well as that you could take her out round the city or something like that, show her the sights etc.

Maybe you can compile a cd of her favourite songs? An empty cd doesn't cost much, and you can upload and burn the songs into it, and maybe record something like a message for her and add it as one of the tracks on the cd? (:

Hope you find something!! <3

You could take her on a tour of a castle? Bring a picnic lunch?

Or maybe burn her a CD of some great musical hits?

If you're up to it..... video tape yourself preforming her favorite musical (song). I bet she'd love that alongside a romantic dinner

Re: Birthday present ideas - March 31st 2011, 11:46 AM

Thanks guys! The problem with the music & books is that I don't know what she already has etc..

So I was planning this (similar to castle but not) -- there is a massive stately home near where I live. Go there for the day with a picnic, I'll pay for her ticket Then when I see her tomorrow I'll take a bottle of white wine as just something extra.

Aye?

I'm so stuck haha! I might see if there are any suitable castle's around that she might enjoy more

Thanks again!

You two are an official couple now? D'awww.

Anyway, your plan sounds pretty good. I'm sure she'll like it.

You can make her something, I know that for me something means a lot more to me when the person makes it themselves. You make a chram bracelet, a necklace, earings, a scrapbook, etc...

Re: Birthday present ideas - April 2nd 2011, 07:59 PM

I like the idea of the stately home tour with a picnic.

I would suggest having a back up plan on the picnic though just in case the weather is terrible. I would say either go to a restaurant for a meal or find some shelter where you can have the picnic.

If you can buy the tickets in advance you could make it so she had something to unwrap. I have given someone tickets before in a gift box filled with tissue paper and glitter. Or you could put them in her card and not tell her what you are going to do and she will only find out when she opens her card on the day.

If you're good at cooking, get a bottle of wine and a recipe, make something she'd like and open a bottle of wine, buy her a card or something. That'd be nice, a romantic surprise dinner.
