I changed my username to Unwritten Words six months ago, I changed from midnight_daydreamer. I thought you had to wait a year to change back to what you changed from, and I changed from midnight_daydreamer. So um... Should I be able to have it again?

It seems like you've already reclaimed your name and solved your problem, but just to clarify, you have to wait six months to be able to change your username after a previous switch.
 And unless someone in the meantime took up the particular name you want, you should be able to change to whatever you want.
