Going clubbing/going to pubs. - November 27th 2011, 12:28 PM

Basically I hate going clubbing/going to pubs lately I find it annoying.

In clubs the music is too loud (I can't hear myself think), it's too crowded, the ques to the bar are stupidly long, I have to go outside constantly as the majority of my friends smoke and I don't want to stay inside on my own, the drinks are expensive etc.

Pubs are less annoying but the drinks are still expensive and the music is sometimes pretty loud.

Am I getting boring? I'd seriously prefer to stay inside, order a pizza and watch TV

My friends keep telling me to have fun but that isn't fun imo. I'm bored if anything.

I don't think you're boring because you don't like clubs/pubs, everyone enjoys different things and if you enjoy staying in and watching tv then that's what you enjoy doing, doesn't make you boring at all.

I'm sort of the same, there will be the occasional time when I will want to go out to a club/pub and have a good time but most of the time, I'd rather stay in with a good show or movie and have a quiet drink rather then go out and spend loads of money in a loud, busy place.

You'd be surprised at how many people don't particularly enjoy going out to pubs/clubs/bars, but who do it anyway because it's just the done thing.

And a lot of people who go to those places can only have any fun there when they are drunk. What does that tell you?

If you have acknowledged that you would rather stay indoors, I say do it and don't care what anyone else thinks.

Nah, pubs and clubs are getting more and more repulsive recently. It's usually full of loud mouth idiots xD

It's not that you're getting boring- it's called being mature! You don't need alcohol to have fun and you prefer the quieter evening. I'm the same.

This is NOT me saying that everyone who goes into a bar/club is an idiot and it's not me saying that you can't have fun when drunk. It just depends on the person!

I don't mind clubbing & partying once in a while, but most of the time I would rather stay home & relax as well.

Re: Going clubbing/going to pubs. - November 27th 2011, 07:37 PM

I've never been a clubber, there's too many sweaty bodies and like you said, its far far too loud!

I will admit to liking a few quiet drinks in a pub at the weekend but if the music is too loud or drink is too expensive or I cant get a seat then I wanna get out of there as fast as possible.

You are not boring at all, in fact its pretty cool that you dont feel the need to go out to have a good time. Sitting in with a pizza and a dvd can be just as nice sometimes.

I used to go out twice a week, every week. And it just got boring. I still enjoy going out, but only occasionaly. It makes it more fun when I do go out and it also means I have more money to save up for the things that I really want to be doing.

Not enjoying clubbing doesn't make you boring, it just means you have different tastes. Just stick to what you enjoy doing and sod the rest :]

My sister never went to clubs with her friends.

She saved the money she would've spent, and used it for books and video games.

It's just personal preference really.

I find the same usually. I'll go occasionally though... sometimes I feel like going, most times I don't.

Just half a year more for me to be able to go clubbing. I don't know if I'll like it yet, but I can definitely see why people won't like it. It's definitely different...

I like going to clubs maybe once a month because you have to dress up and go all nice and that's just not my style. I prefer pubs because it's more casual and I can go watch sports games there and eat buffalo wings.

Most clubs in my area only play chart/dance music, so I don't go to them unless it's a proper arranged night out. We have a rock night once a month though that I really enjoy, so I think the type of music being played is a large factor for me. Different music attracts a different crowd too.

Pubs are better if you're just going out for a casual chat and a drink. There's enough out there that you're bound to like some more than others.

Wow, I thought I was the only one.

Everywhere I went I had to explain that I hate clubs, expensive money draining nights, I mean I don't understand why its a social event, you cannot socialise, basic communication is not possible because the music is so loud.

And dancing, sweaty horrible dancing in a room crammed with other people. I don't understand, its like paying for torture, and boy do you pay! The drink prices are extortionate.

I don't understand, even if you are searching for a prospective partner or hookup, how can you even discern what the person is like, who they are. What if she's a crazy axe murderer!

I just... I cannot comprehend the fun of it, watching a movie, gaming or ANYTHING where you can actually communicate or socialise at some point.

Pubs are at least bearable, if you can talk I can withstand the extortionate prices.

I don't mind pubs but as for clubs I don't exactly dislike them I just more to the point avoid them though I have free entry to one of them and if I go with my friends they get free entry too. The bouncer took sympathy on me, as the past times I've been there I've ended up having to leave the club and having panic attacks and the bouncers still want me to go to the club so give me free entry, I just have not been back since. But I certainly don't think you are boring, I prefer being in than being out in a pub or a club.

Re: Going clubbing/going to pubs. - December 3rd 2011, 06:55 AM

I have to be in the right mood to go to clubs and bars. It's fun to dance if you have people to dance with, but it's still loud and sweaty and hard to talk to anyone. Plus, you know, there are all those random drunk people who aren't just drunk, but are jumping and wiggling around in your face. And it's rather gross.

Bars are more doable. I can easily spend twenty bucks on a few drinks in one night, but at the right bar with the right music I can at least talk to other people. The atmosphere is less chaotic, which is better for my temperament. And at least most of the drunk people are stationary.

I'm more like you; I like to be at home, in my own house, and just relax and have a good time there. I don't really like going out to major public places, especially where there are drunks. Just something about thinking about staying home and doing my own thing makes me feel happy.

It's perfectly normal to not like pubs and clubs. They can be really nasty, scary environments sometimes. I don't really like going to places that noisy or crowded. It doesn't make you boring, it's all personal preference. Just do whatever you want to do and go to the places you enjoy going to.

Re: Going clubbing/going to pubs. - December 18th 2011, 11:22 AM

I know exactly what you mean!! For me it's mostly a money issue, I don't have a job so I find the drinks very expensive which is annoying!! Athough everyone drinks before going into clubs to avoid spending money on drinks in there, you can't really predrink before going to the pub :P And although I used to love clubbing, I still like it but somehow doing it every week isn't as fun as when I was eighteen and nineteen.

Why don't you suggest to your friends that you all have a night in together?? It's not actually that boring if you're all together, my friends and I someimes have movie nights in where we hang out, mostly to save money, and it can be great craic if people are in the right mood. Or you could suggest having a few drinks in someone's house ~ wayyy cheaper and more laidback!!
