Smile The day I said enough! :) - August 10th 2013, 01:08 PM

When I was going through school, I cut myself. 10 long years of this. I was addicted, I couldn't go a day without cutting, and I never missed a day. I never thought I would see the day when I could quit. When I was in 11th grade, I met my husband. He turned in to my best friend. We did everything together. I didn't tell him I cut, he found out on his own. When he found out we didn't talk all day at school, and I thought he was going to stop being my friend. That night when I went to sleep, about 30 minutes after I had fallen asleep I had woken up to a knock on my window. When I had gotten up to see who it was, I realized it was Keith, and I was shocked. He hadn't spoken to me all day, and when I let him in the window, he gave me the biggest hug and kissed my nose and starting crying. He said that he cared for me so much and that he didn't want me to feel the need to hurt myself, that he was going to prove to me that I didn't have to cut, and that I could go without it. By the end of that year, I wasn't cutting at all. 10 long years, and it was finally gone. I owe my life to my husband, and I'm finally SH free!!!!

I always love reading recovery stories, they're always so inspiring, just like this one. It makes me want to recover, even though right now it sounds impossible, you know? Wow, what a beautiful story though. Its just strange how one person can completely effect your life, in the most insanely powerful way. I'm very, very happy for you, and your husband I hope you continue being this strong
