I'm so sick of people nagging me and trying to change me!!!!

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! It seems like everyone is just constantly trying to tell me what to do and how to live my life and I'm SICK OF IT! Why can't people just let me live my life the way I chose and stop trying to make me conform to what they think is right!!! Even stupid little stuff is starting to really piss me off now, because it's happening so often. Like my sister telling me I have to wear a dress to go clubbing and it's like I don't want to wear a dress, why the **** should I have to wear a dress and she just ranted on and on about how I should because I'm meant to dress up and blah blah blah and it's just like ... WTF does me wearing a dress or not have to do with you?!!??! If I am more comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, why can't you just accept that and let me be who I am??? Why are you constantly trying to make me wear things that YOU think I should, that YOU think is fashionable, why is everybody always trying to mold me into what they think I should be and how I should behave. Why can't everyone just accept me for who I am and let me make my own decisions?!?!?

Hey Liadan.

I started reading your post and was thinking, "oh my goodness, how frustrating." But then I kept reading and realized that I, too, and guilty of doing this to my little sister. I think its kind of one of those big sister things that we just... do. In my case, its not meant to be disrespectful of her or to try to change her, its just what I've always known to do - look out for her, help her make decisions... and then all of a sudden my "little" sister is sixteen, and I have to change the way I care for her, and its all very cognitive dissonance-y! And I'm wondering if perhaps this is what's going on between the two of you, as well...

At any rate, what kind of things do you do to express your individuality? It sounds like you're a very unique person, and I'm sure that whether you try to express that or not, it does shine through. (: I hope things work out for you, Liadan.

Actually, I'm the older one. I'm 21, she's 18. She's just very demanding and conformist and bossy.
