Question Your MBTI type? - June 3rd 2013, 03:26 AM

I've recently begun obsessed with this Myers-Briggs Type indicator test, and as I've pestered everyone around me at home, on Facebook, and even at my grandma's house, I figured I might as well bother you guys.

I'm an INTP. Not one of the mathematically inclined ones, just a science, English, history, and philosophy one. I find that this was very accurate.

Here's the basic test. There's another here (or rather, <-- there) which gives you a nifty little badge at the end.

Ah, I've done a test for this in school before, and I came out as INTJ (The Mastermind, apparently).

I'm perfectly normal; it's the rest of the world that's insane.

INTJs!

I've been told by some fellow INTPs that INTJs are difficult for them to get along with. I wonder why that is?

And Jason, the first time I took it, I was a bit less than honest with my answers; I was within 4% of being an INTJ. The second time around, I was definitely an INTP. I can't say that I'm disappointed with my results, either; evidently, INTPs have a reputation for being mad scientists, lol.

I have a feeling I should know this quote...?

And Jason, evidently our kind brings about the apocalypse, then further destroys the earth while trying to rebuild it. And INTPs will invent a faster-than-light vehicle. That last point is actually peculiar in its accuracy. I've been trying to devise a way to make a vehicle fast enough to reach a planet 22.1 light-years away for a week now.

By the way, read this page. Note that the second point of action in every plan for universal domination includes: "Kill all INTJs," lol.

Me too maybe we could compare designs

It has to be done they'd just get in the way.

Re: Your MBTI type? - June 8th 2013, 08:16 PM

I don't much know the terminology, but I've been imagining something with three well-timed boosts, each with significant power to propel a light vehicle at the speed of light, each serving to boost the vehicle over the distance of at least light-years per boost. The idea that a single burst from one source of energy could carry something through outer space as far as the Gliese solar system is preposterous. It'd have to be multiple sources, so that after one engine had died, the next could pick up where the last left off.

Of course, that leaves multiple problems to be considered. Number one, we'd need to discover or perfect a type of metal to cover the outside of the vehicle, which was both sturdy enough to stand up to such speed andlight enough to be carried. Number two, we'd need to devise a source of power powerful enough to kick-start the engines and make them go as fast as desired; a nuclear power source might aid it, but the trick is using the power without blowing up the vehicle and everything else with it. Then we'd need to figure out whether humans are capable of surviving hurtling through space so quickly.

So, definitely difficult.

And yeah, I think the INTJs would get in our way... Or at least, that's what everyone thinks, because the INTJs are the type that like to get into the middle of things, and we're just kind of floating around, waiting for our next idea, lol.

Just for the question's sake: Do you like sports?

I've been having with categorizing everyone I know in real life, quite without their knowledge, and I'm still trying to recall whether it was the ISTJ or the ISTP that supposedly favors sports.

Re: Your MBTI type? - June 8th 2013, 08:27 PM

Well i'm half INTJ so........yeah
how's abouts we don't kill me-ok thanks

I feel
a) we could bend space so it wouldn't be as far
b) have our spacecraft go backwards in time while we're moving foreward so it goes normal speed but only takes a few seconds
c) Teleport by breaking up our molecules shooting them at the speed of light and then reassembling them.

No I don't think nuclear would work
I'm not sure about a propulsion system i'll have to think about that
but if we do it like that we should use the moons gravity to slingshot ourselves into top speed

where are we going?

No, the total INTPs won't kill you, lol.

The goal is the Gliese solar system, which contains three red dwarf suns and has three planets within it theoretically capable of hosting life (the correct temperatures, and what's believed to be water). It's contained within the constellation Scorpios, which is approximately twenty-two light-years away.

Using the moon's gravity might create an imbalance in the natural ebb and flow of the tides on Earth. I'm pretty sure we would bring about the end of the earth, then.

Now, let's see...
  • a) This would be like changing how the laws of the universe progress. Saying we need to bend finite distance to reach another solar system would be akin to saying one needs to do away with gravity to jump. We don't really need to do away with the distance, we just need to figure out a way to fight through it, just like we would when jumping or otherwise moving on the face of Earth.
  • b) Same here.
  • c) This could work, but would the being and technology reassembled at the destination be in the same state? Meaning, would still be separate human beings and separate vehicles, or would we have had our molecules rearranged into some humanoid robotic hybrid?

I don't think nuclear would work, either. Normal fuel, too, would burn up in a fraction of a second, and we'd tumble back to earth, our entire plan devastated after a few moments' futile hope. We'd need something entirely new. Using the moon's gravitational pull as a slingshot was pretty creative, but as we can't use it, we'd need another source of energy.

Hmm. This is difficult.

And I think we wandered off-topic, lol.

Just took the unofficial test the other day (damn you Psychology degree for making me skeptical this whole time) but I'm an INFJ which is terrifyingly accurate.

I think I don't care this is fun

Yeah I also was wondering how we would reassemble ourselves for c)
and for b) everyone inside would still feel time

Let me go do research on Gliese solar system i'll report back later

I don't think using the moon would mess with the earth cause astronauts do it all the time

INFJ.

From Wikipedia:
I – Introversion preferred to extraversion: INFJs tend to be quiet and reserved. They generally prefer interacting with a few close friends rather than a wide circle of acquaintances, and they expend energy in social situations (whereas extraverts gain energy).[8]
N – Intuition preferred to sensing: INFJs tend to be more abstract than concrete. They focus on the big picture rather than the details, and on future possibilities rather than immediate realities.[9]
F – Feeling preferred to thinking: INFJs tend to value personal considerations above objective criteria. When making decisions, they often give more weight to social implications than to logic.[10]
J – Judgment preferred to perception: INFJs tend to plan their activities and make decisions early. They derive a sense of control through predictabilit
