I rescued this little lady ^^ -

    Basically, I rescued her from a negligent owner. She's a leopard gecko, beautiful wee thing, about the same age as my snake. Her tank was encrusted in filth and dead insects, she didn't have any calcium supplement (which captive leopard geckos need) or water and hadn't been fed in over a month. I'm glad to say though, she's doing quite well now that I've rescued her. I mean, okay, she's still stick thin, her limbs should NOT be that skinny, plus she still occasionally uses my thumb as a chew toy, but she can't quite draw blood, so its okay. I'm just glad..not only did I get a new cute wee reptile, but I also did a good deed, and rescued the poor thing from abhorrent conditions. Gah, some people just shouldn't be allowed animals. I'm still in the process of persuading her to not think I'm trying to eat her, hell, my fingers are covered in little scratches where she's bit me since if she does bite me, I can't let go, since then she'd know all she needs to do is bite me and I'll go away.
Also, its since Astra is strong and well fed, plus she can go from looking at something to constricting it in about 1 second flat. I won't stress either of them out like that though, hehe. They're my babies ^_^ "My one desire is for peace -- peace for everyone" |

Aww, that makes me smile. So many animals are being abandoned (because of the crisis now, especially) that it's really.. a good thing to hear about people doing the rescuing.
I wanted a pet gecko when I was little, but my mom said no way

And hehe, thanks people =) The only thing you have to keep in mind with leopard geckos is you need to be able to handle feeding it live insects and keeping tub-fuls of them. ^^; I've got half a tub of locusts as well as a tubful of mealworms and a wee tub of waxworms for a treat. It makes my snakes diet of mice seem almost pleasant, eh? Also, I've decided I hate crickets, way too fast >.> Quote:

Awww Janos she's gorgeous!
I've wanted a gecko for soo long but can't have one now since i'm moving in september and student accomodation doesn't allow you to have pets  Bad people lol Well done for rescueing her! (yes advanced higher english and I still cant spell  )

Awwww she is so cute! Most geckos are adorable, actually. It's so sad that someone would do that to any animal, I'm glad she has you to take care of her.

aww shes so cute! my boyfriend has a leopard gecko named Chomper, from the land before time movies, and i love that little guy. fricken adorable =] and i think its awesome that you rescued her. great job =]
