Woman Skinned Puppy To Make Belt, Cops Say - CBS News
Quote:
woman who got a friend to kill her Jack Russell terrier was charged with skinning the puppy to make a belt out of its hide. Krystal Lynn Lewis and Austin Michael Mullins, 26, were being held Friday in the Muskogee County jail on $25,000 bail each. They were charged with one felony count of cruelty to animals. A Muskogee County judge ordered a mental competency hearing for Lewis. Lewis wanted the puppy, named Poplin, killed because it was a gift from a female ex-lover with whom she doesn't get along, said Muskogee County sheriff's deputy George Roberson. Roberson said Mullins shot the terrier 10 times with a .22-caliber pistol. Lewis skinned the animal at her apartment and nailed the hide to a board.

I can understand not liking the dog because it was from an ex-lover but killing it and skinning it for the purpose of making a belt is way too far. If they didn't want the dog anymore they should have taken it to a shelter, if she wanted a belt she should have go to a clothing store.

It really makes me wonder what people are thinking when they do things like these because it's just not right.

It's possible to get enough skin off a puppy to make a belt?!

Anyway, it's pretty grim.

that is so disgusting. i hate animal cruelty. it really pisses me off. i don't care if you like the dog or you don't. if you don't, give it away to someone who will appreciate it. and belts? well, there are these things called clothing stores and they have a lot of them.

i hate people that mistreat animals!

What the hell? Why does the puppy deserve to be harmed just because of who it was a gift from. She should be in prison for a VERY long time.

I'm concerned with the puppy, but I'm more concerned with her mental state/state of being...
How pathological must one be...? That's creepy.

Wow, either she must be rather slim or that's one big puppy or both. Somewhat of an odd reaction to not liking someone: kill the thing and wear part of it. If you didn't like it because it was from someone, then why do you put it on yourself and keep it in your apartment? Seems to defeat the purpose to me.

That makes me feel sick... that poor, poor puppy. I hate it when people treat animals cruelly, it bothers me so much more than when people mistreat humans.

The woman most likely need psychological help. I feel bad for the dog, but I'm also concerned for her..
