Lost God - September 22nd 2012, 02:01 AM

Ok so I haven't been on this site much rescently, to be honest I have been putting it off as I do not want to admitt what has been going on and how I am feeling. Until now...

So December 9th 2011 I attempted suicide, September - December 15th I had a severe relapse in self harm. That was the start. I lost contact with God and became incredibly distant.

Things are home are difficult and school isnt quite as bad as last year, but it isn't easy and have started smoking to get through. Smoking is my new unhealthy coping mechanism.... replasing God.

The point of this pointless rambling is I have completly lost God. I am full of anger and hurt. I don't not believe that a God exists, but at the same time I don't believe he does. I don't know how to get back to Him. I have tried reading the Bible and praying and it isnt working.

I am at desperation point... I feel so confused and lost without God, but this anger and feeling of embandement gets in the way.

I need God in my life...but if I struggle to be confident in His existance how can I get Him back?

Re: Lost God - September 22nd 2012, 03:32 AM

Hey there Liz I'm so sorry that you've been going thru all of this! We all go thru desperate times where it seems like God isn't there or doesn't listen or care, but He is always right there with us, no matter what. He always remains faithful because he doesn't ever change. There's a saying somewhere that says sometimes we have to hit rock bottom before we start to look up to God.
Hang in there girl. Maybe find a calm, quiet time during the day to just sit and listen....now you might not receive an instant answer or even an answer for a while, but just kinda get into the attitude of, "Hey, God....I'm here and listening" and just listen.
God is always true he loves us no matter what. I believe all Christians experience doubt at least once in their lives; it happens. We can get so down and out with life and things going on in life, it seems hard to believe that such a God could exist.
God doesn't create bad things and sometimes he lets us go thru these hard times to see how we react, how are attitudes are, etc. It doesn't mean that he doesn't exist or that he has forgotten about you.
He loves you! More than anything on this earth! Take care and if you need to PM me please feel free to anytime
Peace, Cass

I'm just wondering. Why do you think you need a god?

Re: Lost God - September 22nd 2012, 05:38 PM

I feel I need God, as when He was in my life all the hard stuff such as depressions, my battle with self harm urges, school, home life....everything negative was easier to get through and understand.

God in my life gave me a sense of purpose without Him I feel I have no purpose. NO point in existing, which is a scary place to be as it means suicidal thoughts are returning.

I hope that has answered your question.

Re: Lost God - September 22nd 2012, 06:23 PM

Hello!

First of all, I want to tell you that you haven't lost God. The bible says that NOTHING can separate us from Him once we are saved. If you truly had God to start with (I'm only saying "if" because I don't know you ), you still have Him. You may not feel Him and you may be doubting, but if you've been saved, He is still there just like He was before. Your human thoughts and feelings are just telling you otherwise because they are of this world, not of God.

If you haven't been saved and don't know what that means (again, just being sure since I don't know you), you can find out what that means here:
http://themostimportantthing.webs.co...ineedjesus.htm

Once you are saved, God is yours forever. If you doubt, pray and tell Him that. Ask for help to believe. I have to pray for more faith daily. There's no shame in being honest with God and telling Him what you lack. One of the most beautiful prayers in the bible is when a man said to Jesus "I believe, but please help my unbelief." He believed, but still had many doubts, and he asked Jesus for help. Jesus granted it to him.

Be honest with God about your anger too. Obviously be respectful, but tell Him what you are feeling. If you come to God with a willing heart to change, He is willing to change you. It may not mean that everything in your life is instantly fixed or that you will never be faced with a doubt again, but it means that you are on the right path.
