Christianity just gone - September 29th 2016, 05:22 AM

I used to be a huge Christian and I used to go to church every Sunday and Wednesday. I mean don't get me wrong I've always been rocky with my relationship with God. But I started college and all of it fell away. Part of me miss that group of people I had in high school ministry but then at the same time I can't go back. I feel like ive let everyone down once I became a college student. I don't know what to do cause I feel like I'm stuck in the middle of should I try to become Christian again or I should be doing what I am doing

Hey,

I'm not 100% with religion stuff, having never followed one much myself, but I don't think there's a right or wrong answer here. Faith and religion aren't things you have to follow, and if you find yourself questioning your relationship with God and your beliefs, it doesn't make you a bad Christian. As humans, we question everything, especially things we don't understand or know too much about. Plenty of people find themselves questioning their religion and beliefs, whether they're religious already, or someone who is newly discovering a faith they believe in. So, I would say, don't feel bad for being where you are and doing what you're doing. It's where your life has taken you and nothing is wrong with that at all. Let your curiosity guide you into what you do net, you haven't stopped being a Christian, and you're doing nothing wrong.

I don't know if this is useful advice, but just be yourself. If God eists, I like to think he would guide you no matter what, and as long as you're a good person, you're doing nothing he would disapprove of.

I am personally a big believe in not going to church just to be apart of a social group. There are plenty of other organizations you can partake in to meet new people and be apart of a group. If you are going to go to church it should be because you want to get stronger in the christian faith. Because that is what church is for, people coming together because they believe in the same spiritual path. I know some people use church for a purely social purpose, but I personally don't think that's appropriate or respectful to the religion. You may also find yourself feeling as though you have to believe just to fit in, and that is not very emotionally healthy either. I say, find another group that you can really get behind. And you will be apart of an entirely new social group and not have to feel weird about it.

I don't think anyone can answer this question for you. I think you have to decide if going back to church is what you want to do. I suggest making a list of reasons you want to go back to church and then a list of reasons you are unsure about that step. It might help you get more of an idea of why you are wanting to go back to church.

If your only reason for wanting to go back is because you feel as though you have let those around you down then it is probably not a good enough reason. You have to want to go to church for yourself or you'll end up resenting church.

Also, if you are wanting to go to make friends or something then there are clubs you can join at your school. I think joining the groups at church can be a great way to meet people who are like minded and to build friendships but it should not be your only reason for going.
