IUD cramping - December 31st 2017, 08:41 PM

So I've been having some IUD cramping and I got it inserted on the 28th of this month. I'm having no bleeding though. I cannot feel my strings and I fear it has gone further up than it should. I called the doctor and she said she wanted me to get an ultrasound this week but that if the pain was worse to go to the ER. I'm considering going to the ER any way. What would you do? Wait until the ultrasound or go to the ER?

If you want to go to the ER than you should. Doing what makes you feel most comfortable is best. I know it can be difficult to go to the ER if you don't feel as though it is an 'emergency' or 'necessary'. However, if it's the only options available (Urgent cares aren't open or they aren't covered) than you need to to what will ease your mind.

There have been instances where I have utilized certain healthcare facilities even though it probably wasn't an emergency but I was worried about myself and wanted to be safe.

Best regards.

Well, I went to the ER. Thy ran some tests and examined me and found that the strings were almost up into my uterus but they didn't know if the doctor cut them that short on purpose, so they said just wait till I get my ultrasound this week.

I am glad you got checked out. I hope that your doctor will be able to answer any questions and will be able to figure out the best way to proceed. Please let us know what ends up happening!

Apparently everything is in place down there and it’s just my body getting used to the IUD. I’m good!
