Post I have been on my period forever!!! - September 13th 2009, 08:33 PM

I had my period at the beginning of August and it lasted a week. When it ended it only went away for about a day and its been off and on since then.

Also in June my period lasted like all month and then at the end of June I had this discharge. Someone told me that it was my body cleaning itself out.

I am just alittle confused. Should I go to the doctor?
Or should I wait it out and see what happens.

Oh and I dont know if this is important but im a virgin and I havent done anything sexual aside from kissing in a year.

Ughh I am freaking out help!

Hey Larrinda

Definitely see your doctor as soon as possible. It sounds like you are constantly spotting, which isn't the best thing. Having your period this much is not a good thing. You should have between 21-28 days between the start of your periods. If not, seeing a doctor is a necessity. They might put you on birth control to regulate your body, or wait and see if your body can regulate itself. Tell your mother about this though.

Hope this helped,
-Amy

I agree with the above post, go into the doctor, it isn't unusual to have off periods when you first start getting them but spotting over that long of a time period isn't exactly normal. He might put you on birth control to regulate it, many teenage girls go on the pill to help regulate periods, help with pms and even outbreaks.

Good luck!

Yeah, definitely go see your doctor as soon as possible. You are very irregular and spotting for a whole month isn't all that good either. Talk to your mom about it too; she could have had the same problems when she was younger.

Hey there Larrinda! [:

As the previous posters stated, I would definitely look into seeing your doctor. You shouldn't be bleeding this much, even if it is just spotting. There could be something else that's causing this, so better be safe and get yourself checked out. Be sure to come back and tell us how it went. =)

You should see a doctor. I was having a similar problem recently where my period would last 3 weeks, then stop for a week, then start again. I was put on the pill for this problem and after taking the pill for 3 months my period is normal again.

How long have you had your period for? The first two years can cause really short or really long periods. So if you have just started in the last couple of years, it really shouldn’t be much to worry about. It could just be an irregular period. Also, if you are on any kind of oral contraceptive that could be causing changes in the length of your period as well.

But if you have had your period longer then two years, and are not using oral contraceptives, then I would suggest seeing a doctor. You should always see a doctor when your body is acting abnormally. Only you know was is normal for your body.

I'd go see your doctor. If it's really a big problem they can always put you on birth control to regulate your periods. It really does help a lot. I've never had my periods be so out of whack like yours are so i would deff ask about it.

I agree, do go see your doctor. Your hormones could be off.
