Eugh, another shaving thread ... - July 9th 2010, 02:06 PM

Shaved down there for the first time the other day. It was all okay, though a few bumps. Shaved for the second time yesterday and I just can't get rid of the stubble ... so it's just horrible. The razor doesn't seem to do anything unless I shave against the growth, which just hurts and it means going over the bumps before and I bleed and stuff ... eugh, and now it just doesn't feel very nice.

So should I wait until the hair grows back more before I try and get rid of it again? But then that means it being all unsightly and stuff and not something I'd want my boyfriend to see ... I suppose I need more practice, but any tips on getting rid of stubbly stuff easier would be great.

I sit in the bath for a while first, then use shaving gel and a special bikini razor ... anything I'm doing wrong?

I have the same problem; you really can't get rid of the stubble without it hurting like hell. I always wait a few days and...yeah. I hate that I can't get rid of it.

You're definitely doing well already; it really helps if the area has gotten really soaked first (makes the hair softer) and shaving gel and a good razor are a must. What kind of gel are you using? I use a special kind just for the bikini area because it claims to prevent razor burn. Sometimes it works

You might want to consider waxing instead...at the very least, the hair would be gone for longer. (If you do, use waxes that you heat up, not just press on, because those don't work nearly as well.)

Hey I have a couple of tips for you.

1. Do not shave the opposite way of the hair growth. I know it is tempting to, but don't.

2. Make sure that you don't have too much shaving cream on.

3. Make sure your razor isn't clogged.

4. Make sure that your razor is brand new/fairly new.

As for getting all of the hair off while shaving that area, it is almost impossible with a razor.
I suggest that you go get a professional wax.
If you decide to self wax, be very careful because that is a sensitive area.

Take care! (:

Here's what I do:

Before I get in the shower/bath, I sit on the toilet and shave with an electric razor, and shave with the growth. That gets rid of most of the problem if it's pretty long before I start shaving.
Then I get in the shower, I wash myself off, let the warm water hit me for a while, then I use shaving gel and a MAN'S razor, they seem to work the best. I shave with the growth, again, and it takes away most of the hair. Yes, there's still going to be stubble, but the only way you can really prevent that is by going to get a wax.

Two is better than one.

Niente, Niente! If God meant for you have a bald pussy, you'd never have pubic hair. See what happens when you shave?

You're supposed to have hair down there. Your hair is a part of you. A girl's hair pattern is as much a part of her beauty as anything else. Just trim if you want to.

Ahhh I love Stephen's post!!
But as said, if you're going to do it, waxing is best. And if you really don't want to then use a fresh razor every time (down there especially), moisturise A LOT afterwards to sooth any razor rash. The bumps are ingrown hairs, where the root hasn't properly come out ... you can tweeze these out if they're showing, it hurts a teeny bit but it tends to get rid of them nicely.

I remember I tried shaving once. I also tried using nair.
Shaving reminded me of that scene with blood coming out of the elevator in the shining. Nair reminded me of my crotch getting stuck in the oven.

I'm glad I'm a dude.

Thats what I've been trying to say for forever.
a lot of guys want shaved girls tho, so...

You can do everything here... and it will probaby work okay, but yes, if you shave down there you are either going to have a sandpapery crotch, or, if you go ageanst the grain, really itchy irritated skin and ingrown hairs. That's just how it is. Waxing does the same thing as shaving ageanst the grain, the only plus is that you have to do it less. Nair just sucks, it burns, and you still have stubble.

Also I would leave it alone and let it grow out for a few days if the skin is already really irritated... for right now. You'll just make it worse if you keep scraping it with a razor. If you do shave again though I'd make sure you have a really sharp blade, run the water over it before each stroke to get rid of the hair in the razer so it still cuts, and avoid going over the skin in the same spots too many times. Trimming your hair really short before you shave is a good idea for this reason. The less times you run a razor over the same spot, the less likely your skin is to get irritated. I shaved for two years though, used all these methods, and nothing ever worked for me, so I just trim now. Pretty much no matter what your gonna itch and burn, also when you do shave, make sure you stay really dry around there, any amount of moisture from working out and sex ect. will make irritation worse.

it makes it a lot more likely that you'll get ingrown hairs and irritated skin... it doesnt hurt me while im doing it but a day or two later is when it kills. You could have finer hair, or tougher skin... those people are lucky i guess.

My best advice would be go and get waxed, the more you shave the thicker the hairs grow back. If you get waxed the hair gets thinner every time and doesn't grow back as much and as quick.
It's relatively cheap and if you take a pain killer before you go then it doesn't hurt at all
Just don't get tempted to shave inbetween waxing or you will ruin your hard work!
Don't get worried about going and showing your bits either, they've seen it all before!!!

Hope this helps.

i know you shouldnt shave agaisnt the growth but i still do. you still have some stubble but not as much, you are more at risk of it hurting a few days after or ingrown hairs which can hurt and cause problems... never had a problem with it *touch wood* a mens razor works a hell of alot better than a womens, and using soap/bubble bath rather than shaving cream works better too i find

Am I the only person that get's pretty damn smooth after shaving? Idk, but I am always satisfied once I am shaved. I use the venus razors with cream bars, and as long as I don't rush, everything results fine xP

I'd like to point out that shaving does NOT make hair grow back thicker. That is pure myth. With time, the ends just tend to thin out, shaving cuts off the thinner end. So when it grows back, it has the diameter it always does as it grows, so it just appears thicker.

'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said.
'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'"

I had the same problem but a few weeks ago I bought a decent razor and decent shaving cream, it's much better There is a stubble and the only way to really stop that is to wax which I really don't want to do and I doubt you do either

I've always shaved against the grain myself. The first few times it hurt like hell, but I guess I'm just used to it now and I don't get any problems.

Yeah if I shave WITH the growth, there's no chance in hell that it's going to work. I ALWAYS shave in the opposite direction of the hair

I only shave the upper part, but definently moisturize. That always really helps get rid of the bumps and irritation.

anyone know where you can get a good at home wax? also is it worth it, (price-wise) to get an at home kit, compared to getting it done professionally?
