Question Birth Control . . . Help ! - June 30th 2011, 02:05 AM

so me and my boyfriend have started having sex and we had a pregnancy scare after our first time , he had a condom on but somehow his cum got out i dont know how maybe he put it on wrong but i dont want to just use condoms anymore , i wanna be safer and get on some type of birth control preferably the pill . the problem is that i really dont want my mom to know about me having sex so i dont wanna ask her to take me to get birth control and i dont think they give birth control to minors without parental consent , so does anybody have any suggestions as to what i should do ?

You should tell your mom that you want to be put on birth control. Having sex is a very mature thing, so you need to just step up and talk to your mother. I'd be willing to bet that she'd be more willing to talk about birth control rather than having you come to her saying that you're pregnant.

I'm really glad to hear that you want to be safe, but you really should just tell your mother instead of sneaking around to get birth control.

You can also try to convince your mother to get you birth control by saying you want a lighter and more controlled period or less acne if you have any. I have a really heavy flow and that's how I plan to ask my mom next time my period comes around.

I guess it depends on how strict your parents are, but I do think that they should really expect sex by the age of 16 anyways.

I agree that talking to your mother would be the best bet. If you're mature enough to be engaging in sexual activity, you should be mature enough to bring up the topic of birth control with your mother. Of course, you don't have to tell her that you're having sex, you can say that you want a more controlled period, even if yours is already pretty much regulated, it's always nice to know when it will be coming.

However, in a lot of states, you can get your hands on birth control from Planned Parenthood or free clinics and they don't have to inform your parents. I'm not sure where you're from, but if talking to your mom about birth control is really that big of a deal, then I would try to contact one of these places. They have no obligation to tell your parents, and some give birth control for free. However, you would need to get an exam done (Pap Smear) in order to be prescribed the pill since you are now sexually active.

The other users have got it perfectly right - if you're mature enough to have sex, you're mature enough to discuss birth control with your mother. She was your age once, she knows what you're going through!

I personally don't agree with lying to her, and saying it's purely for your period. But if that's what it takes, I guess you should be better safe than sorry.
