planned parenthood and birth control - October 14th 2011, 05:16 AM

hey so my boyfriend and I are both 20 years old and been together for 2 + years and have fouled around and done pretty much everything but actual sex. I feel I am ready to have sex but the only thing stopping me is pregancy scares... like i bring it up all the time and I dont want to drive him crazy. lol! he is very understanding though and has been very patient that we havent been sexually active yet. hes very respectful. so now i do feel ready for sex but i want to take all the precautions. we were talking about using a spermicide condom, and having him pull out. do you think this will be safe enough ? and also having it the first time just after my period as an extra precaution (even though i know you can still get pregant)

now tomorrow i was thinking of going to planned parenthood cause I am almost 21 and never had a pap test done..and dont feel comfortable with my doctor.. so i called and they said i can come during drop in and get one done and the results take about 2 weeks to get back. they also said during drop in i cant having counselling/advice appointment same day as pap test cause the amount of other girls. so i was thinking of going tomorrow and getting the pap test done and then just asking my general couple of questions at that time. do you think that would be ok? cause its not like i need counselling or anything i just have a couple general sex ed questions lol.. like the one above.. and about alesse and what other one regulates periods.. umm if b/c affects runners..just a few general questions.. i just dont want to have to go back again cause its far for me!

and whats the pap test like im pretty worried? i kept asking my boyfriend, trying to get him to come cause im not really open about sex with anyone but him and just felt better if he went and came home with me.. and he was all yes he'd come but then i know he has a lot of exams coming up so i told him its ok and hes not coming with me anymore he would have just waited outside but still i would have liked that comfortable but i know he was just saying yes to be nice but has so much studying on his day off!

also i told my mom how i was getting the pap test done at planned parenthood and she understood and was no problem with that cause she too doesnt like my doctor aha. then i just mentioned b/c to her and how i have some friends who took alesse and her opinion was she has friends who were on different b/c for a long time and ended up not being able to have kids...and she was also saying whats the point just to drug yourself and all the possible side effects just to regulate your periods for a few months then down the road when you go off it .. they will go back to being irregular and shes got a point its true.... i agree..she just doesnt know my real intentions of it. and no i cant tell her.we never even had one sex talk me growing up i swear she doesnt want to know and would be so akward. so im going to try and say the doctor was recommending to try a little not for long. do you agree with what my mom said? also they are going away in like a week and how i feel its horribly obvii of my intentions! ugghh and also would planned parenthood precriped me b/c me being a virgin.. and not having the results back of my pap test. and does the pap test for stds and anything that could be passed to my boyfriend? (even though im a virgin) ahh im so worried for tomorw. i would just like some info before i go thanks for any help to any questions!

While I can't really get into specific details about what a pap test is, it's really nothing to worry about. A doctor, most likely a female doctor since it's Planned Parenthood, will just examine you down there, and do a few cotton swabs to check for various things. For a little more information on what it is that check on, you can visit this website: http://women.webmd.com/guide/pap-smear

As for birth control, most birth control doesn't affect the way you play sports or what you do in your free time. But, it's always best to make sure. Planned Parenthood will go over all these options with you, and give you the one that will work best for you and your schedule.

It's great you want to take all the precautions. Personally, I wouldn't use the pull out method...even with a condom. While condoms are effective when used properly, they can rip or even be expired without you knowing. We wouldn't want an accident. It's best to use a condom with another form of contraception like birth control.

I hope this answered your questions, and if you have anymore, feel free to PM/VM me personally.
