Sex Toys From Spencers... Opinions?

Okay, so Spencers sells sex toys, sex books.. basically sexually explicit stuff, right? Well, who thinks there should be a certain age you have to be to buy sex toys or sexually explicit items from Spencers?

I personally think that there is nothing wrong with teens buying them. Teens and most kids know about sex. And, it's basically everywhere. I've seen articles about outraged parents wanting the malls to shut down Spencers? So what if a teenager goes in there to buy a sex item? Teens go out and have sex. And, they are going to do it regardless of the laws or what their parents say. So, why not let them relieve sexual tension using a vibrator or what not? It's better than actually going out, having sex, and all of the consequences associated with sexual intercourse. Also, teens masturbate even if parents don't want to believe it. They use vibrating tooth brushes, back massagers, their hands, falcets in bathtubs, and just about anything that can be used. Vibrators are just a more creative, and better way to do it. And, can be used with a partner. Just like mutual masturbation. Which teenagers ALSO do regardless of what parents say.

Using a vibrator is not harming anyone in anyway. Teens should be educated about sex. And, children should not be in the back of the store, anyways. If parents don't want their KIDS (Not saying anything about teens.) back there... then, don't take them to the mall or keep them by your side. It's rediculus how oblivious parents are about this. Teens are doing things behind their backs, and are going to continue. Why put up a endless fight that will absolutely go nowhere?

Sorry for my rant. I just find it absolutely stupid. Anyways, OPINIONS?

There shouldn't be an 18+ age limit, but I dont think they should sell a vibrator to an 8 year old. I think that if some teens had toys, they wouldn't start having sex so young because they have a way to control their hormones haha.

Personally, I think it's fine that there's no age limit. They keep all of the dirtier items in the back of the store, or in a specific section. It's not like they're displaying sex toys in the window displays. But, I think if a teenager wants to buy a sex toy, then they'll find a way to do so, whether there is a Spencer's near them or not. The only reason I think that parents are so up-in-arms about Spencer's is because it's easily accessible. If they don't want their small children going in there, then they shouldn't go in there as well, simple as that. As for their teenagers, I feel like there are so many things they could be doing that are worse than reading books about sex. So, I voted no, I don't think there should be an age limit.

If they're old enough to wander into a Spencer's, old enough to recognize what a sex toy is, and old enough to have money to buy one, they're old enough to have one if they want one, in my opinion (So I voted for no age limit).

I agree with everything you said. If teens wants one, they will find a way to get one. I know I found my way to get one when I was 13.

I dont know about shops but I know you can buy them online no problem.. they assume that if you have a card to pay with then you're 18+ so

If they don't get it from the mall, they'll get it online. Let's face it: I'm sure clerks can tell the difference between say a 16 year old and a 9 year old. They wouldn't sell that stuff to a younger kid. I don't even think kids would have the guts to go in there on that back wall to look at any of the sexual stuff they sell.

Close down Spencer's? Ridiculous. It's not like they're a TOTAL sex shop. They sell clothes, purses, hats, accessories, and games. Sure, it's mostly aimed at an older crowd but my boyfriend's 13 year old sister gets a lot of her "emo" clothes from in there. It's a gift shop, not a sex shop.

Now, don't get me wrong. I totally understand where some of these parents come from. Just because their younger children are afraid to buy anything from the store, sex wise, doesn't mean they aren't looking at it, making them more aware of what sex really is. Those sex books aren't exactly...nice. They are extremely explicit. But, kids are going to hear about sex on TV, in school, from their friends, from their older siblings.

However, to close down the store entirely would be stupid. Maybe asking to take out the sex things would be a better way of putting it, but let's face it, that's not going to happen. Spencer's has been around for as long as I can remember. I've been going in there since I was in my early pre-teens and teens. It's where I bought my first vibrator, but I was of age when I did.

There isn't anything wrong with teenagers going in there to buy sex toys, or sex paraphernalia. If they want to have sex, they'll find a way to do it.

Yes, but younger children shouldn't be back there anyways. If the parent doesn't want their children to see it... then, have them stay with you and don't let them go to the back of the store, or in at all.

You have a point, but what about those kids who go to the mall with their friends, or with another family (obviously, friends of their family ) They can't really say "Hey, don't go in this store" because obviously if they're at the mall alone with friends, they aren't going to listen.

Butttttttttttttt, if they are old enough to walk around, alone with friends... then, they must be old enough. Like, around 12? I don't know anyone that lets their child walk around the mall alone with friends younger than that. Haha. Also, it comes down to parenting. Parents can control what kids watch on tv, and what they see online etc. (Young kids. 11 and under) Why not control what they look at in stores? Why are they even going in their with their children if they don't want them to see it?

I think age limits on a lot of stuff sexual wise are ridiculous.

Obviously you don't want kids getting hold of the stuff but I think that laws on sex toys and other things like that should be the same as the age of consent in that country.

The fact that I can have sex at 16 but I can't buy a vibrator to masturbate with until I'm 18 is ridiculous in my opinion.
