COLD!

I suppose this is more of a rant than a question, being as I already know whats going on and how to cope.... I just need to rant dammit.

I have a terrible cold (well actually I'm getting better now) and its so annoying, because although unlikely to do much damage to baby, I panic everytime I cough and sneeze because my stomach tenses and it feels weird :/ if that makes sense.

I have an appointment with the doctor tomorow, as there are a few slightly more imbarrasing issues I need to discuss (but again nothing that should do the baby any damage)
Its just this is the first time I havent liked being pregnant

Normally I would take so many painkillers and cold killers ect and not think much of it, and now, I dont even want to take paracetamol, because although its 'safe' I dont really want to risk anything, (esp as a few years back I tried to OD on paracetamol) So now I'm fighting to have a completely drug free pregnancy.
Meh... Its just irritating, I dont want to cough, because the tensing makes my bump hurt, but I cant not cough because well I cant....


I have discovered my new pregnancy thing tho, which despite my cold has made me giggle! I am very very very protective of my bump!!! The cat caught me funny the other day and slightly scratched my bump, nothing major but I went crazy! All I could think was that Cat scratched my bump, I was devistated (bump however kicked back with some force....) and still havent fully forgiven the cat yet...
Maybe when the red line vanishes?!

You should be careful about the cat scratch, you *could* get cat-scratch fever. I wouldn't worry about it, but just in case, you know.

OMG :O sorry I know you didnt mean to scare me but now I'm totally shitting myself. :/

I just had a quick read about it, and now im kinda scared of my young cat (the one that scratched me) because he's always scratching/biting my feet... I hadnt thought anything of it before, hes just playful (obv he wont be going near baby after birth, in fact he wont even be in the same house at that point) but now im pretty scared.

I think that cat scratch should be fine. I really wouldn't worry about it. As for the cold meds, just talk to your doctor about what is okay to take. They should know and wouldn't tell you anything that they knew would hurt your unborn baby.

And safefetus.com is also useful in finding out what medications are okay and which ones aren't.

You'll be fine.
My cat scratched me several times throughout my pregnancy. Nothing happened. Don't be mad at him for scratching you... it's not like he was thinking "omg I hate that lady.. Scratch post time!"
If you're laying on the couch put a blanket on your tummy... that way when he jumps up he'll only scratch the blanket

I know my kitty didnt mean it, but I couldn't help but be angry.... He has been forgiven now tho (even if he tries to eat my toes)

I just cant help but be protective, but its weird I kinda like it, I have always been a very protective person tho.

Glad you're feeling better. As for your cold, your doctor will let you know what to take. I got a cold while i was pregnant too and it was horrible, i know. But i did take medicine that my doctor told me was okay and it helped a lot.
