Ultrasound would pick it up, right? -
July 31st 2010, 09:12 AM
I've had pregnancy symptoms for a while now and have been ignoring them completely. It started with cramping and mood swings, then I got nausea and cravings and I swear to god my lower stomach feels really...solid?
But I did a test about 3 months ago, and it was negative, and I've had an ultrasound since then to check for cysts, and there was nothing there. I just want to make completely sure that an ultrasound would have picked up a pregnancy, right? When I check the dates, I'm sure it wouldn't figure out right but I want to be positive. I guess it could be a..can't remember the word...imagined pregnancy? But the symptoms are irritating. I mean... craving marmite? Chalk? Weeeiiiiird. I hope I'm not. It would be one very pickled baby. ![]() Just a hop, skip and a jump. |

When did you have the u/s?
if it was in the first 4 weeks of the possible pregnancy, then no if they aren't looking for it it won't be obvious. BUT past that, the uterus grows, and it becomes obvious through an u/s. why don't you just take another test? |

I would take another test if I were you. Especially after you mentioned in your other thread that your mum thought it would be a good idea.

Cravings can be a sign of being deficient in something. Have you had any periods since then? Are you normally irregular? If you test too early, it is possible that it would miss. When was the ultrasound? If the ultrasound tech wasn't looking for it, it is possible they may have missed it even though the uterus is right next to the ovaries.

I take cerazette [mini-pill/POP] which caused my periods to stop altogether...so no missed periods :S I'm a bit of a medical failure I think. I might do a test anyway, though I'm theoretically infertile as I don't ovulate whilst on the pill and considering [excluded missed pills] I'm on the pill 100% of the time....I'm pretty sure I'm not.

If they weren't looking for it then the ultrasound tech might not have noticed. Take another test. If you are satisfied with the results go to the doctor and have blood work done.
