One of those "just checking" threads - August 2nd 2011, 11:37 PM

I know there's heaps of these but I just want some reassurance. It's hard to see the doctor where I am, so I thought I'd try here while I wait.

Basically I'm on the pill and have been for AGES. It's a POP one and I haven't forgotten one / taken one late for months, I have had problems with having my period every other week with it though. recently I was on antibiotics and was told that the one I was taking had a really slim chance it might affect the pill, although not as much as most antibiotics ...

I did the stupid thing of going to see a friend of mine (an ex) who I always end up hooking up with. Usually it's not a problem, because getting carried away and not using a condom isn't usually an issue. This time we did stop and put one on part way through once I stopped being caught up in it all. He did NOT finish inside me, but obviously I know about pre-cum etc.

I have not had a period since, and it's been maybe 2/3 weeks. Now usually when antibiotics affect my pill I get a really heavy period as soon as I take them, but that didn't happen so I'm guessing they didn't interfere. I can't be sure thoguh.

I'm holding out for my period but am a little worried as it's been a while since I've gone so long without a period. I haven't had any sickness / tender breasts / spotting etc. Does anyone think I've got a big chance I could be pregnant? Or that I'm probably just worrying for nothing?

People who pull out have a ten percent chance of getting pregnant. Pre-cum chances are slim. Plus, you're on the pill. It's possible, but I highlyhighlyhighly doubt it.

I agree with the above poster. It happens, but the chances are so extremely slim. I sometimes forget, so I'll remind in case: Statistics saying there is a 10% chance does not mean 10% of the population get pregnant. It means, an individuals chances are that percentage. That makes a difference :O

Anyways, especially since you are on the pill. The antibiotics could have had a different effect than usual, as antibiotic effects on BC pills are not really known, except sometimes they cause interference.

You could be late for numerous other reasons. I would suggest waiting another week and then take a test.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

Since you're taking progestin-only pills, I'm assuming your periods aren't regular. Your period may be late or missing due to your pill or a number of factors, but the chances of you being pregnant are highly unlikely because you are on the pill and he hasn't ejaculated inside of you. You should try and get your hands on a pregnancy test just in case, if only to put your mind at ease.

Take care. x

They were regularly every other week, which was why a couple of weeks free freaked me. I got spotting and nausea two days ago which freaked me even more. However it's turned into a period so I guess I'm in the clear
Sorry for being paranoid :/ can be closed now ... thanks for the advice guys
