Exclamation The Morning After Pill ..? - August 26th 2011, 02:06 AM

Can the Morning after pill make you skip your next period?
I had unprotected sex, took it, got my period, but this month it hasn't come yet and it should've.
I had sex after this but we were very sure he didn't cum in me but now I'm really scared.
I should've gotten it last week.
But i have no idea what to do if I am pregnant, i don't approve of abortions if it's your fault, and it is my fault, but i know i couldn't face my family.
Are there places you could get free or cheap legal abortions without parental permission?

Any pill with hormones in it can mess up your cycle but the only way you can be sure is to take a pregnancy test or go to your doctor!

"Pulling out" is not a safe method of contraception, as it is possible to get pregnant by precum.

If you do find yourself pregnant and decide on an abortion then talk to your doctor, everything between you and him/her is confidential and they can't without your permission.

If it turns out your not then decide on a method of contraception to avoid mistakes like this, pill, injection, implant or even the coil.

Hi ScreamQueen.

I have taken the Morning After Pill before (actually, more than once ) and it messed up my menstrual cycle. Give it another week or so before you start to panic. You may even find that the stress of possible pregnancy is lengthening the delay even further, so try to relax a little.

If your period hasn't arrived in another week, you should take a pregnancy test to be sure of what's going on.

If it transpires that you are pregnant, you have plenty of options. However, you may as well cross that bridge when you come to it.

Keep us updated and fingers crossed!

@Katie I'm gonna talk to my mom about the pill, i hope she'll take it well...

@JazzyJazz I have been really scared about so I'll do my best to relax, it feels better talking to someone who's taken it before rather than just reading about it. Will do. *fingers crossed*

Rissa, as the others said, it is very possible it messed up your cycle. I have taken in twice. The first time it made me skip my period for a month, and I didn't get it until my next period was due.

Taking a test is your best bet. More so to put your mind at ease.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

I've had similar experiences to everyone before me, took the morning after pill and it threw off the whole cycle! Trying to relax and taking a test are the best things for you. Also, I think talking to your mom about the pill is a great idea!

Yes it can mess your periods up. Just hang in there and wait for it to come.

I'm going to buy a test on Monday to give it a few more days,.
I know my mom will say yes but she won't like the idea, but she was a teen mom with me and wants better for me..

I said I'd never let you fall && I always meant it
If you didn't have this chance then I never did
You'll always find me right there, again

I'm not sure what the laws are like in your state, but since you are fourteen you may have to get parental permission. There are family planning clinics such as Planned Parenthood that provide abortion services. You can locate one closest to you and call them up, ask them what their policy is regarding abortions.

Since the question has been answered, I will close this for now. You are free to make a new thread updating us or if you have any further questions.

Take care.

Hi Rissa,
I'm glad you're not pregnant as by the sounds it's not what you want. Have you spoken to your mum about going on the pill? It's really not advisable to use the withdrawal method especially when you're not in a position to provide for a child at the moment. Being a teen mum herself, I'm sure your mum would rather know you're being safe Good luck talking to her if you haven't already and I hope things work out for you

I'm glad that the results came up negative. It is a good idea to take tamz's advice and to go on birth control so you can prevent pregnancy scares like this one from coming up again. Planned Parenthood has a lot of helpful information on birth control and a little quiz you can take to see which one may be right for you.

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to PM me.

Take care.
