Girlfriend's Body is Confusing -
September 12th 2011, 04:32 AM
I had unprotected sex probably about 2-3 weeks ago, and she took Plan B within 72 hours (maybe like 1-2 days after intercourse). She said that Plan B fucks up your system, and we waited till she got her period. When my girlfriend mentioned about spotting, I grew concerned and asked if she was certain that she was having her period. She said she was "pretty sure" but wasn't 100%. That was about a week ago.
On Friday, she wasn't on her period anymore apparently and today I decided to suck it up and get her to take a pregnancy test even though she was "pretty sure" she wasn't pregnant. The test showed up NEGATIVE, and she said that it was 2 weeks since she's taken plan B. I was informed today that she started bleeding again, and she isn't sure if it's ANOTHER period or if she's spotting. So at this point...everything is like...wtf? If the pregnancy test showed up negative, and if she's "pretty sure" she's had her period and not spotting (at least the first time she started bleeding...no telling why she's bleeding now), then should I really trust the negative result on the pregnancy test? She says that she's not pregnant, but when I ask her about specifics, she never answers with a "yes" or "no." At this point, it's like...I don't know what to think. It's hard to tell what's going on because she's adjusting to a major operation with food so she's been throwing up even before we had unprotected sex, her nipples are sensitive but she claims that her boobs are smaller. Everything is jumbled up, and there's multiple reasons for this or that, so the only thing I rely on is that negative result on the pregnancy test. Please don't mention about going to the doctor, by the way. I know. This is strictly about the pregnancy test. Should I be concerned based on the circumstances? |

Absolutely not. Plan B can seriously alter her cycle, whether it's with the first period she has after taking it, or for several months afterward. She's going to experience some spotting because of it. Here is a website where you can find the side effects of taking the Plan B pill: http://www.planbonestep.com/plan-b-p...e-effects.aspx
Also, keep in mind that it might have been too early to get an accurate result on a pregnancy test, or she didn't take it at the right time of day to get an accurate result. Usually, pregnancy tests require that it's taken in the morning, when your bladder is full with the first urine 'sample' of the day. Your meant to hold the stick in the urine for a certain amount of seconds, and then wait (usually around) 3 minutes for a result. The reason for the test being better taken the morning is that the pregnancy hormone, HCG, is more potent in the morning and will give you a better result. If you continue to have your doubts, wait another week or two and get another test. Make sure she reads the directions of the test you purchased and she takes the test first thing in the morning. When the result comes up negative (if it does), then you have nothing to worry about. But, if it's positive, you should get her to a doctor to get confirmed by getting a blood test done. Her sore nipples could be a possible side effect of the Plan B pill, but I also know that nipples/breasts become more sensitive around the time of a woman's period. Mine do, definitely. So, it could be from that. There is so many things that it could be that it's too hard to tell. I do know that if she is pregnant, she wouldn't be experiencing any sort of pregnancy symptoms right now. Sore breasts, getting larger breasts, cravings, they're all usually in the 2-3 month of pregnancy, not within the first week of a pregnancy. Good luck. |
