Jeremy's Journal :) -
September 18th 2011, 12:47 AM
So I decided to copy Audrey and make a journal too. I will keep people updated about whats going on and post pictures as Jeremy gets older. Since I already made a post about the birth and all I will try keep this first one short. Jeremy was born on September 13th and he was a bit early but perfectly healthy. He is 5 days old now and here are some pictures of him.
![]() This is a couple hours after he was born. With his hat on. In his car seat and he is 2 and a half days old. At home with his eyes open and he is 3 days old. and this is him today at five days old he looks like a super hero.

lol he already peed on me once I took to long
. He is 6 days old today and I gave him his first bath that wasn't a sponge bath he liked it I think because he didn't cry. I tried to breast feed him at first but apparently I am not making enough milk for him so I have to give him formula instead but he really likes that stuff. He only wakes up 2 or 3 times at night and the longest he has stayed awake so far was just over an hour and he doesn't even cry that much. I really love me happy baby .

Oops, I did not see this!
Though I did see "Jeremy's Journal" on the list of threads. lol He's adorable, Blue!I think the reason you aren't producing enough milk is because you're really young. Stick to formula. Un dia sin ti es como un año sin ver llover

Blue, you won't hurt him when changing his diaper, don't worry.
![]() If you are unsure, just be gentle when wiping him, but do it firm enough to get him clean. Don't worry, he will tell you if he's in pain! ![]() He's beautiful by the way, so glad he was healthy and that you're both okay.

We had our first doctor's appointment today. It wen't well everything is still all good.
Although he lost one ounce lol not what I expected. Apparently in the first 2 ish weeks it is normal for baby's to lose weight instead of gain. Learn something new everyday!

It is completely normal for them to loose up to an entire pound during the first few weeks! What made you think you didn't make enough milk for him? Sad to hear nursing didn't work out for you. He is a cutie!

Go allllll the way up to the top of the page. Click "quick links" then "edit signature". Then do the same thing you did to put the ticker in that post.. like put it in the insert image link button thingyy.

Sorry to hear your doc was so illinformed about breastfeeding! For the first several days (possibly up to a week) your milk hasn't even come in yet, all you are producing is colostrum (which is what is supposed to happen). Breast pumps rarely get much out that soon after birth (and for some women they hardly work at all!) You can't judge how much milk you are making by how much is expressed through a pump. A pump is never as effecient as the baby's mouth. Not saying there is anything wrong with formula. I just wanted you to know for future reference with future children (and if you wanted to stop the formula and put him strictly on the breast it would most likely be fine he would just be nursing constantly because of having to get your supply up- its supply and demand. Your body makes what baby tells it he needs) that it isn't that you didn't make enough milk, your doc just assumed that formula would be easier for you because of your age. |

You should speak to your doctor about it ASAP as it sill may help you. Also, the colostrum is the most important milk as it contains more antibodies and other good nutrients than later breast milk. And yeah, when I went out with district nursing, there was a lady who wasn't expressing very well after she had her baby and the nurse suggested giving a breast feed and the topping up with formula. This would give your baby the best of both worlds
