Dont want kids... or to be married

The title says it all really. I dont want to have kids becouse i just feel that i wont be a good father, i know im only 20 but its just the way i am. I dont want to be tied down with a kid if you know what i mean. Also about the marrige thing, im not really the type of person to get that far in a relationship. To be honest a ring and peice of paper is not really worth it.

Am i strange for thinking this way?

Nope. There's no rule that says you have to get married, or have kids.

Nope. As Maeve said, there is no rule saying you have to be married, or have children. You're 20, so you may change your mind down the road. But, if it doesn't, no biggie. A marriage doesn't have to be just a piece of paper. I know people who are married, no legally, since they believe that their relationship is worth more than what a sheet of paper could tell them. Eventually, they did have to get married for medical purposes and such (I'm speaking of my maternal grandmother, and her now husband, my step-grandpa...if you will). They've been legally married for almost 12 years, and were together for nearly 20 years before they decided to pursue the legal action of marriage.

Don't feel guilty or feel like you're the only one in the world who feels this way. Many people feel this way.

My boyfriend actually feels the same way right now. He says, "I can't explain it, but I don't ever want a kid or to get married. But, I think that's just because of my age. I think once I'm in my thirties I'll be ready."

So, no. Not just you.
Not a big deal either. If you happen to get into a serious relationship, just make sure they know in advance. And who knows, maybe when you're older, more dependent, and have better financial status, you might be ready.

No hahaha your not strange for thinking this. A lot of guys feel this way, and even girls. But I do believe that you wont decide to get married until you actually find that one girl that you want to spend the rest of your life with. And same goes for children. Say you accidentally impregnate your girlfriend? I heard that some fathers actually don't start feeling anything for their child until they have first contact with the baby (look, touch) So who knows? You still have your whole life to figure this out though don't feel like your obligated to settle down right away.
