I actually don't know if I like her + Valentine's Day

I'm going to attempt to keep this brief.

I have a friend, 'K', who is unusual. I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with her, but she's queer. Not necessarily a bad thing. She's on a desperation streak after recently breaking up with her boyfriend, and since I'm genuinely in the same boat, we relate.

I've been spending a fair bit of time either with her or talking to her. It's kinda nice to just have a friend to talk to and hang out with.

Anyway, we've had moments where it becomes a thirty second staring contest from across the room; we've had moments where we just (corny, I know) cuddle; moments where we just kind of feel like there's some sort of connection, but nothing has availed. We made out a few years ago, but we dropped contact shortly after and the rest of this is only really recent.

I'm not sure if I'm developing some sort of thing for her. I'm assuming if it continues like it has, I'll be infatuated by her. I don't see her feeling the same thing. I got the whole "the sad thing is, you're like my best friend..." chat yesterday, albeit after many alcoholic beverages. And we don't flirt like most people.

It's just kind of running through my head, is all.

But I've been thinking, about Valentine's Day. I don't want to spend it alone, but I'm pretty sure she's already got a Valentine. Would it be damaging to our friendship if I basically came out and asked her to spend Valentine's day with me? I don't want it to progress to something more than it should, but I want to just do something as friends, rather than as Valentines. Everyone knows being single on Valentine's Day is just crushingly painful.

How would I exactly break that question to her without coming across as being attracted to her?

I would ask her:

"Hey, What you doing for valentines day?!"

Obviously she will tell you, and you will know if she has a valentine. If she doesn't, ask her:

"You wanna go ____(movies, mini golf, dinner, cuddle, etc)___ on valentines day? I really don't have much to do"

See what she says, and then base everything off of that. If she says no, then I would look for others girls, but if she says yes, than just get ready to have some fun!
