It depends on what birth control you're on, but i've been on Yaz for about 2 years now and i've done much worse while on it. At first I was afraid to do drugs on the pill but i've been fine. Just try not to miss your dosage and if you're especially tweaked about it just talk to your doctor. It may be awkward yes, but it's your health.
