Fired? - February 9th 2009, 08:42 PM

I was just wondering if this is a legitimate reason to be dismissed...

So about a month ago, I submitted a form at work to take 4 days off work to go home and visit my family. I was told by the secretary that it was alright and I had the days off, and so I let my parents book the flight. About a week ago, I looked at the calendar, and noticed that the secretary only book one day off, rather than four. She doesn't speak english very well, and she read my form wrong, thinking I only wanted one day off instead of four. So she said to resubmit the form, and now my boss says if I take the time off, my job won't be guaranteed when I come back, because it's too short of notice. I explained to him about the secretary and he said he would look into it, but apparently he never gave her permission to book me off those days; he more or less said he thinks that she didn't tell me that, and that I just heard what I wanted to hear. I can't not go, because I don't want to waste my parent's money like that. But I don't want to lose my job. I don't know what to do.

Not around so much now that school's started

"Live a good life.
If there are gods and they are just,
then they will not care how devout you have been,
but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.
If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.
If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life
that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."
Marcus Aurelius
