Question cutting - May 3rd 2012, 12:54 PM

I don't know what to do. Every time i see a knife I just want to cut my arm all over again. Please can somebody or anybody help. I feel alone and I lost my aunt in January on the 9th of this year. She was 21 and now I have to face this world alone. I cant do it and now I just wish I was dead sometimes. What do I do?

You've experienced a loss and are obviously going through an incredibly tough time. My condolences, and i'm here for you.

I can understand your need to find an outlet for your pain, and the temptation with that, but my advice instead, would be to get in touch with a grievance counsellor, and therapist besides that, in order to vent your difficult feelings and have some sort of support network in this tumultuous and painful time.

Do you feel you could reach out and do that? Do you have any other family to turn to who can support you in that?

well i mean i just mean im 16 today its my birthday and i just want to be happy but everytime someone i talk to talks bout their aunt i remember what me and my aunt had. im sad and feel down. I am taking medicine and im seeing a therapist 5 times a week but nothing is working what now

Grief takes time, and medication may help in enabling you to function at a most basic level, but it won't take away the pain of the loss. Unfortunately, these things do 'take time'. Keep in constant contact with your therapist, and continue to express all of your difficult and painful feelings. Also know, however, that in the future you will be able to look back on the positive times you spent with your Aunt, and this initial pain will lessen, or be easier to cope with.
