What is keeping you grounded? -
February 12th 2023, 02:31 PM
In therapy, and typically on my own, I acknowledge something that is keeping me in the present. I thought, over time, we can share what it is that is keeping us grounded, or what we're observing. It might give others' ideas. This is great for dissociation, or anytime you feel overwhelmed or out of it.
I'm listening to the rain hit my window and I can smell the food someone in my house is cooking.
If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first

I feel grounded when I’m holding my guinea pigs.
Do you ever get a little bit tired of life
Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die
Like you're hanging by a thread but you gotta survive
'Cause you gotta survive

I feel grounded when I'm holding my cat, taking all three dog's for a walk, dancing, reading to my little cousins, cooking and baking for others.

Tonight, I would say the smell of what I was baking.

I feel grounded just talking to people online or on TH. I feel super comfortable discussing stuff with people on this forum/site and even some closer friends be it irl or online. My dogs keep me happy and grounded too.

I feel grounded when I'm listening to music, taking photos, spending time outdoors, cuddling my parents dog and spending time with my family and fiancée.
