5 Weeks of homework in 2 days. Impossible? -
April 18th 2009, 04:20 PM
*Sigh*
Well. Being the major procrastinator and plain idiot that I am, I have somehow managed to put off five weeks of homework, and now have only a little less than two days to finish all of it.
Not to mention, I'm terrible at math. Have to write about ten book reports, among a million other things. In less than two days. I don't see this happening.
Problem is that it has to happen, or else I don't pass this grade, and have to repeat. Not cool.
I have no idea how to get all of this done, whatsoever.
So I guess I'm just asking, does anyone know how, exactly, I can do all of this? Or you can just tell me it's impossible... either way... help!

- Get the rest of your family to help if they can on basic things like worksheets.
- Ask for your friends homework on things you don't understand.
- Sparknotes the books to write the book reports.
"If I go crazy then will you still
call me Superman
If I’m alive and well, will you be
There holding my hand
I’ll keep you by my side
With my superhuman might...
Kryptonite"

I feel like you are exactly like me! All of a sudden I am caught in months of work all due after one weekend. First thing I do is make a chart.
Class: Assignments:
History -read 330-410; answer questions on pg. 412 # 12,14,15
Something like that for all my classes and all the assignments. Then allot a certain amount of time for each assignment. Ask friends for help when you get stuck, don't waste time or get distracted. I find that putting my computer away for a few hours can be extremely beneficial. Your parents could potentially help you through your math assignments if they are very hard. Also, you can email your teachers asking for extensions for some assignments, too. Teachers are generally understanding people, and I am sure they would help you out. If you need to read books, of course you should read them, but there is such a thing as SparkNotes. You can also listen to books online while doing other homework as well.

I would suggest starting with whatever assignment you know is worth the most for your grade. Do those first.
For the book reports, I find that SparkNotes or ColesNotes do wonders, especially with summaries and character analysis.
Other than that, drink lots of tea (healthier than coffee, while still having caffeine) and get ready for a long night.
Next time, try to schedule your time a little better.
The great artists of our time are the ones who created something timeless. But it was never them defining it that way.
Everyone has a story. What's yours?

Organize it so you do what you find hardest first, that way you have more time for that. What you find easiest would need less time. Then, organize by what is worth the most overall (i.e. do something that you find hardest that is worth, say, 30% versus something you find equally challenging but worth a mere 2%).
Also, take breaks. If there's a point where you feel your brain is a pile of slop or equivalent to what you shit in the toilet, then quit working for a bit and have a break to relax. The key then becomes to keep it as a 10 or 15 minute break and not a few hour-long break.
If you can find some online summaries of the books then that can be helpful. I'd aim for getting, say, an 80% on the assignment rather than a 100%.

Oh, I totally sympathize. This type of thing happens to me on occasion and I know it really, really sucks. I think you can do it though! The most recent occasion was earlier this week. The next morning I had a test over a book and had only read 4 chapters and it was late at night already and I was really tired. Plus, I had to take notes through the whole book. Ended up using sparknotes, but it worked out. Anyway, good luck! I think you can do it!

I totally know what you're going through, I always leave everything to the last minute, and if I get really lucky I am ill then and cant work at all and have to give everything in the next day.
Anyway as I was in the same situation my brother told me to stop crying (I was in a right mess) and paniking and write down a list of all of the things I have to do.
Then start with the things I find easy or which will be finished fast and the list will get smaller and smaller. Dont forget to give yourself a break aswell and dont let yourself get distracted!
