Hm...that's a really broad question. I'd like to help, but I don't really understand what you mean (or your teacher means) by "renaissance society." If you expand on that, I'd be glad to help.

Yeah, it is kind of broad but I would say that the society made marriage (especially to who) like really important, more so than it is today. I dunno if that's what you were looking for but I hope it helped
