I get freaking suicidal every month before my period how insane is that?
What do you guys get before your period.

(I'm going to start the pill today btw)

Yes I'm genuinely suicidal. With suicide plans and all. I 've started birth control today. And I hope it's enough. But I have survived past few months so... And I do have therapy to help me through it.

My emotional reactions are faster, more intense, and more frequent when I am nearing or on my period. I've coped by learning that just because I'm having feelings does not mean they reflect reality, nor should they be acted upon. Feelings will pass. If you know ahead of time that your period increases suicidal feelings, in addition to speaking to your physician about this, you can cope ahead to deal with the feelings when they come. Make a list of things to distract yourself. Look into finding support from friends or other loved ones, like having someone call and check up on you every day or two to make sure you're okay. Be sure you fill your life with more pleasant events in those days to avoid falling into depression. Taking steps like these can minimize the impact of heightened emotions around that time of the month.

When I PMS I usually get either suicidal or very angry and easily annoyed. Sometimes both. I also get a ton of physical symptoms. You should mention this to your doctor though, as there are medical conditions that can cause you to be suicidal due to menstruation and sometimes they do more than give you birth control. It might also change the type of birth control they give you. You could always see if this pill works and if not, definitely mention it to your doctor.
