I'm pregnant

so since the dad doesn't want anyone in] real life to know. I thought I would tell all of you on TH. if you have me on Facebook you can't say anything there though.I'm pregnant.

the doctor said I'm due August 3rd. Which makes me about 8 weeks and some odd days pregnant. The father isn't very happy. He has calmed down some Since he found out. he just doesn't really do to be a dad again.

does anyone have any ideas for morning sickness? I've tried crackers, Vernors, vitamin b, small meals, nothin is working.

Think they mean about the part where you said "he just doesn't want to be a dad again". As for the rest of your post, sorry I can't think of anything else but I do hope it all goes well!

I have heard that if you eat toast and drink bubbly drinks (like sprite or ginger ale) that the morning sickness will go down. Good luck, because the morning sickness is just the beginning.

When I would get sick I would sip on some 7up or Sprite. Sometimes milk helps with upset stomachs. :) Congrats on being pregnant! It's a wonderful thing.

Congratulations. I understand where you are coming from. I'm 90% sure I'm pregnant and the dad does nothing but party, drink and smoke pot. He is great with kids and is supportive but just is like another child and has yet to grow up.
As for your baby daddy he sounds like just added stress to your pregnancy. It takes two to tango and he needs to accept his part of the situation.

Congrats are in order for getting pregnant if you wanted it to, not so much for the father though, but that is the consequence of unsafe sex. (Sorry, rather pregnant than STD's tho)

Aww I am sorry the father is being so negative :(

I am also expecting, but due in July. I have HORRIBLE morning sickness again, my doctor has put me on Diclegis and it so far is the only medication that has seemed to help.

Next time you are at your doctors ask if it is a good fit for you.. Until then, Sea Bands, Preggy Pops, Ginger tea, Ginger snaps, B6 and Unisom are things you should try out

I'm sorry that the dad is being so negative. I believe you should be able to tell at least people close to you though, like ones you can trust to keep their mouths shut. It's incredibly selfish of him to ask you to go through this alone without seeking support of your friends. He needs to own up to what has happened. People are going to know so you should be able to tell people close to you.

I heard there are some presecription typed things women can take for morning sickness if it is really bad, so if no one else's ideas can help you might want to look into that.

Re: I'm pregnant

Well, some people do like to keep it quiet till 3 months but in all honesty, if you want to tell people then tell people. In the end, it is your pregnancy. I would tell him that at X time you will start to tell people about the baby to give him time to prepare for it. I think 12 weeks is usually a good time as that is the start of the 2nd trimester. If you haven't told your immediate family, I would consider telling them.

I don't see anything healthy in keeping the child a secret for long periods of time. After 12 weeks, then I would definitely tell people. The baby isn't going to go away.

I would also prepare to raise the child alone as it sounds like he has not grown up. While he is supportive of his other child, he may not be supportive of yours. Cold thing to say, but that sometimes happens.

14 Weeks is when the 2nd trimester starts.. 12 weeks you are still in the first trimester :)

But yes, some people do wait until the 14th week to tell people as that is when your chance for miscarriage drops drastically.

Uh the doctor told me that 12 weeks is the end of your first trimester

Re: I'm pregnant

Since a woman's pregnancy can be broken up in several different ways anywhere from 12-14 weeks is considered the end of the first trimester. It just depends on who you ask and how you are counting the pregnancy.

I have used this chart for my pregnancy, it seems to follow the norm for most people and practitioners.

http://www.baby2see.com/pregnancylength.html

It says that the second trimester starts at 14 weeks. But like I said, 12 or 13 weeks is not unheard of.

12 weeks is when the risk of miscarriage is reduced. 14 weeks is the beginning of 2nd trimester. Asfor morning sickness small frequent meals, prego pops, rest, keep crackers your bed and eat a few before getting up. You can ask your doctor for nausea medicine they can prescribe medicine that will help. I hope your morning sickness passes quickly feel free to message me if you have questions about Pregnancy or just need someone to vent to as you go through this.

Not according to my nursing OB/peds book.

If you have really bad nausea, you could consider asking about zofran.

Re: I'm pregnant

They gave me zolfran :D

Lelola January 9th 2014 04:58 PM

Re: I'm pregnant

Also, there is a cheaper version of zofran out there. It's ondansetron, the generic form. It's cheaper than zofran in many cases although they may have given it to you depending on how the script was written.

One common side effect of zofran is constipation though but some prenatal vitamins have a stool softener in them. If the prenatal vitamins make you sick, consider asking about a different formula/brand. Sometimes you can break a tablet in half and take it at two meals instead of one if the tablet is scored in half (has a line through the tablet).

Lizzie January 9th 2014 05:43 PM

Re: I'm pregnant

Pregnancy itself can cause constipation let alone being on Zophran. If you find yourself having issues you can ask your doctor for a stool softener or even a prescription that would be less constipating. I take B6 and Unisom for my morning sickness and that worked well for me without causing other issues. Its all about finding a nice balance.

Re: I'm pregnant

I forgot to mention this. There are different routes of zofran too but they may not all be available in the generic form. I need to register my work's phone app in my phone again to access their drug book information.

I think it's name brand and it tastes like grape kool-aid and it dissolves under your tongue. It's zofran sublingual although you do swallow the bit that isn't absorbed under the tongue.

There's also pill forms and it'll probably be the cheapest. They are available in both generic and brand name.

Obviously you wouldn't use IV or IM route.

hopefuldreamer January 10th 2014 12:32 PM

Re: I'm pregnant

Therr is actually a generic of both the pill and the orally disentegrating tablet (odt). The generic is ondansteron. Of course unless your doctor writes for name brand only most pharmacies will fill the generic as it saves both them and you money. Your doctor will decide which form of the medicine you should use. At one point my morning sickness was so bad that neither the pill or distentegrating tablet worked so my doctor gave me zofran through iv. Hopefully you won't need this and your morning sickness will pass quickly! Best of luck!
