I'm Chess, one of the staff members here. We're the ones with the pretty coloured usernames. Mine just means I'm in charge of the Articles section here. If you run into any trouble or have any questions, the ones you want to look for are buddies. Their job is literally to help new users. I'm also only too happy to help, so if you ever need anything, feel free to get in touch.
We usually recommend that new users start by posting an introduction thread in the Arrivals and Departures forum. There's a bunch of staff members and normal users who hang around there and they jump at the chance to welcome newbies, so don't be shy. Just dive right in and get involved.
