Re: breast feeding in public

If it's so ridiculous, then why do I know so many families who don't have a problem doing this?

And yes, I have gone for 6 months without going out somewhere to sit down and eat, really not a big...

Re: breast feeding in public

I kind of feel like that when you decide to have children, you've decided to devote your life to that child. So when it's still an infant, yeah, you're gonna miss out on doing some things that you'd...

Re: breast feeding in public

I'm a very picky eater, and I always have been. There's nothing I can do about it.

Re: breast feeding in public

I think that comment was made to me, actually, but that's not my point. You can't generalize like that saying that people will understand when they have a child of their own. Me for example, I will...

Re: breast feeding in public

I was responding specifically to C0Co's post, asking why it makes people uncomfortable.

Re: breast feeding in public

A bunch of us have said it so, so many times.
A woman's breasts are sexualized objects due to society, so therefore, when a woman's breast is no longer concealed when she's in public, it makes some...

Re: breast feeding in public

Obviously I'm aware that a man can't breastfeed. I'm more saying that you don't HAVE to breastfeed anywhere and everywhere to establish that bond, because as you stated as well, there are other ways...

Re: breast feeding in public

When it comes to the pros of establishing a bond between the mother and the baby through breastfeeding, how is that fair to the father? The baby is usually given to the mother first after birth, so...

Re: breast feeding in public

And that's the attitude I'm talking about.

And I contributed to this discussion earlier, I'm just saying that it's run its course, and I think it should be closed. Other people agreed with me as...

Re: breast feeding in public

That's not really the point though. It shouldn't be happening anywhere. People should be able to discuss things without being rude to one another.

Re: breast feeding in public

Maybe this thread could go somewhere if people left the attitude out of their posts when they're trying to state a point. Everyone's entitled to your own opinion, but you're not entitled to be rude...

Re: breast feeding in public

Uhm. No. That wasn't even close to what he was saying. He was saying why it's seen as inappropriate for women to breastfeed in public, because it's a social taboo for women to have their breasts...

Re: breast feeding in public

If you haven't had a child before, how do you know this is definitely true? I'm not saying I think you're lying, I'm just wondering if it could really be a situational/personal thing.

Re: breast feeding in public

I think it's seen as inappropriate because, regardless of the reason, you are still exposing your breast in the general public. I understand that you can't really see much, and that you're feeding...

Re: breast feeding in public

It can make people feel really awkward, so I don't completely agree with it. But if someone is breast feeding in public, it's not like I'm going to say anything to/about them.

Re: breast feeding in public

There's nothing awful about breastfeeding, seeing as it gives the baby antibodies that it can't get otherwise. But I don't feel that it needs to be done in front of other people, unless it's family...

Re: breast feeding in public

I have been around a hungry baby before, more than one actually. I have a cousin who breastfed her baby, and I'm nearly positive she never did it in public.

It is relevant, because it was a reason given for why you can't feed a baby in a restroom.

Re: breast feeding in public

Don't be rude when it's completely unnecessary. Another problem solved. If I state something that's incorrect, I can be informed of what the reality is without being called ignorant.

Re: breast feeding in public

Although they have underdeveloped immune systems for a period of time, on the same standing, children who are never exposed to germs will get sick a whole lot more than kids who are.

Yeah, I would actually, if it was deemed necessary.

And it's really about time the ignorance comments stopped. This is a discussion, not a thread to bash people.

Re: breast feeding in public

The baby isn't drinking the breastmilk out of the sink, off the floor, or off the toilet seat. What's dirty about it?

Re: breast feeding in public

No, I don't know much about breastfeeding, being 18 and never having had a child. Regardless of this fact, I don't really appreciate being called ignorant, because I'm far from that.

Re: breast feeding in public

Because a baby doesn't know the difference? A lot of you are talking like the child is going to have an opinion about what's going on. It's not.

Re: breast feeding in public

As for unclean bathrooms, what is it that you're going to be touching in the bathroom that would make that an issue?
